Question about 2004 Dodge Stratus
I was driving to work and I was coming down my road and had to slam on the brakes because of a dog that came out in front of me...I got to the main road and about 1/2 a mile from the stoplights and my car acted like my cruise control was on. When I went to stop it felt like it didnt want to. So I pulled into the gas station and put it in park, the rpm's went up to 3,000 like I was pushing on the gas. So I turned my car off and back on and it did the same so I shut it off for a few minutes and back on and it was fine. Could it be that the idle valve was frozen or stuck? Or should I be more concerned. For I do not have the money right now to get a new car and I need this to last. It was about -6 outside. I have a 1996 Dodge Intrepid. Any help or suggestions would be great!!!
-6 is pretty cold, people don't like to work when they are cold. Neither do cars. If it only happened once when it was that cold, I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens again. But I think it was a problem with the idle valve or TPS
