Question about 1997 Toyota 4Runner
97 4runner, 4WD, front disc, rear drum brakes, ABS. Sometimes when starting up I put it into drive and the vehicle will not go until I punch the gas and it breaks loose and I am on my way. Also when I am slowing down to a stop the brakes lock up and stop suddenly. I took a look at the front brakes and noticed that on inside of the passenger side rotor there was scarring as if the pistons on that side were sticking. It has been awhile so I replaced the front calipers and rotors. It did not solve the problem. I have limited automotive knowledge, but understand that there is a proportional valve in the braking system somewhere and it could be not distributing the pressure in the pistons evenly and that could be the problem. I am wondering if this is a possibility and if there is a way to diagnose this. Any help or other ideas will be appreciated. Thank you.
Your rear hub seals are leaking, which leak grease/hub fluid in to the drums which will make them stick.
