Question about 1999 Porsche Boxster
I have a 1999 Boxter that has been in tip-top shape. Just yesterday, I found the red light warning sign on the dashboard as I turned on the ignition switch. Then, the convertible top won't open. Friends tell be it might just be a sensor that stops it, and that I make sure there are no obstructions at the back. I can't find any. Can you advise which specific areas I need to check?
Have a loaner - 2008 porshe boxter and do not know how to operate the convertible

Good news for our situation was this was an easy fix... There is a wire connected to the emergency break that was loose and every time I pulled the E break the sensor was being pulled and would not send the proper information to the button that removes the top.
Just put in a by pass switch on the wire for your Emergency break, don't worry your E-break will work still.

The sensors stop it becos there is a problem,.to prevent further damage. The tops are not reliable, and it could be one of a number of problems. The early cables stretch, then only one side is driven and it jams. The plastic balls (red) alos break or come off. Look at Rennsport technical forums amd you will find the answers you need.
