Question about 2001 Jaguar Vanden Plas
My car is a 2001 XJ8 Jaguar Vandenplas. Engine will not start and error condition TRAC NOT AVAILABLE is flashing on screen. This happened two months ago and the car started a bit later that day and worked fine since, until this morning. Would disconecting the battery reset the computer in case of a probe misread? Apparently, the TRAC NOT AVAILABLE is an error condition that prevents starting the car. Any thoughts? Thanks!
PS: Start is cranking and battery voltage reads 12.41 volts. And yes, there is half a tank of gas...
First did you have a check engine light, and do you know what the code was if you did?
Ok, the traction control not available isnt goin to affect the car from starting.During my year of a jaguar tech the most common for a crank, no start is a flooded engine. Now the two most causes for a flooded engine on these jags are 1. the weather is just super cold and all the own does is keep cranking the car to try to get to start. 2. A lot of short trip, a lot of city driving, 15 mins or less.
When you get something like this, a no start crank, you have to pump the gas pedal really fast, like your starting an oil muscle car. this forces more air into the engine.
when this no start happend u could get all these codes, what i maybe would recommend is a tune up, and some highway driving every once and a while to kept this from happening again, hopefully this helps, thanks.
