Ticking sound when car is started

When I start the car there is a ticking sound coming from under the glove box. Don't know if this is part of the problem but around the same time I noticed the rear defroster quit working.

If it is around the glove box you may have something in the blower motor fins. the blower motor can come from under the passenger side dash I think it is 3 8mm bolts that hold it in there. You may be able to tilt the glove box down by opening it and pinching in the sides to see if a piece of paper fell back behind it. As for the defroster there should be no correlation.

When I start my truck there is a ticking under my glove box an it goes for a little while then stops what could it be

Sounds like there might be something stuck in your blower motor. Unplug and unbolt it from undernieth the the passengers side dash. Unusally 3 8mm bolts remove it, u may need to munouver it out and check to see if anything is inside the blower fan. If not, prop the fan up so it won't fall over and hit anything while possibly spinning. And start the truck and see if the noise is coming from the motor itself.

Hi i hear a ticking coming from behind the glove box, i tried turning every thing off, it still ticks till i turn the car off

It may be the heater blower fan. It is always on when the car is running. I'm pretty sure the blower is under/behind the glove box.
Does the ticking noise change when you speed-up or slow the fan speed? If so, there may be a leaf or something stuck in the fan blades. You might have to have the blower motor removed to get it cleaned out.
Hope this helps...
