Whats it sound like to you??

I have a 1997 pontiac transport and just in the last couple of days I have been noticing the power steering has not been working right away in the morning.Yesterday I noticed my van was overheating so I pulled over and got some water just to get me home. When I got home I filled the resorvoir up and the rad up.The van ran fine this morning until again it overheated.I checked the coolant level and it was almost all gone.I checked the oil and it looked a little like a milkshake but not too bad.I drained all the oil out and put new oil in.When driving it around the block I noticed a big fluctuation on the thermostat in the van.It seemed like I didnt have the same amount of power I had to really push the pedal to get it to go.Oil now looks fine but I didnt drive it alot. Can you help me.Please tell me its not the head gasket...Thx Paul

Have you notice any white smoke out of exhaust pipe or excessive moisture? You might notice it more under exceleration. If oil looks milkey and it don't take long for it to over heat, I'am sorry to say sounds like head gasget or worse. When its running stand in back of car by exhaust and smell if you smell any antifreeze, then you will know what it is. The thing to do is a coolent pressure test and then you will know for sure, at least what side its comming from.

Boy i don't know of anything that will seal a blown head gasget except a new one, but if there is, it won't hurt to try it, heck your not out anything, but the price of the sealent.

I have a 1997 V6 Holden Commodore wagon and everytime i try to drive the horn beeps. I haven' been able to drive for the last couple of days.

Do you have an alarm system in it they can malfunction and do that. If that is not it there might be a contact in the steering wheel that are bent or sticking to each other never the less fails the horn is by the lower right front bumper there is a wire that hooks up to the horn unhook it. thanks

My power steering resevoir was empty. I noticed it because my steering was suddenly stiff this morning. Nothing in my manual said anything about a particular type of PS fluid so I went to Walmart and...

You will have to look where it is leaking from and get it fixed. Running without power steering fluid will eventually burn you power steering pump out and yes if you power steering is that hard to turn when out of fliud, it is dangerous.

My 1997 pontiac Grand prix power sterring is gone and hard to turn i think it might be the pump or sterring whell fluid but cant find it help me please

You might want to check the power steering fluid. The resevoir is on the passenger side toward the passenger seat it is kind of hard to find. But i have a '97 Grand Prix and i noticed that whenever i would turn sharp while going pretty fast it would make a grinding noise and i could feel my steering wheel pulling me. But the thing is the power steering never whinned or anything. So i checked it and there was absolutely none in there. So check the fluids first.

Power steering full but heavy steering 1997

Okay, for the steering issue, you may have a bad power steering reservoir.

The fuel inction problem...more than likely a sensor problem. If you can get to an auto parts store like Schuck's/O'reilly's/Kragen/Chiefs/Napa...they will read the code for free....I mention this because you say you have the check engine light come on and the hesitation problem sounds like a MAS/MAF sensor...mass air flow sensor problem. Find out what the code is, and they will tell you for free...FREE!!!

Steers as if it has no power steering

you will notice the rack and pinion if it is the trouble because when you steer the steering wheel the end play is very big because the specifide end of a steering wheel is only 25mm (+)or (-) 5mm.

then if the end play of the steering wheel go on the rack end pinion and look for other guy who can steer the steering wheel
so you can see the movement of the rack end pinion, one thing once the rack end pinion has a oil leakage i'm sure that the trouble was at that point but if no of what i have mentioned may be the trouble goes to the oil pump, but you can notice if the problem is on the steering pump it will create a noice ,hard to steer and you can see the oil will have a bubbles

Loosing coolant somewhere.

it is the head gasket. you're wise to change the oil right away but stop driving it before you do some real damage to the motor.

Looks like a chocalate milkshake in cooling system. no appearance of pollutants in engine oil.

Just drain and flush the coolant system real good then checkit. If you have not flushed the system for a while you may have to do it twice. other wise I think you will be fine after this id done. I hope this helps, Don't forget to rate my answer, thanks.
