Do you have the 2.2 liter Ecotec 4-cylinder engine, the 3.5 liter V6, or the 3.9 liter V6 engine? If you have the 2.2 liter engine, there may be a camshaft/timing chain issue if you skipped a tooth when you put the chain back on the cams. If it's a 3.5 or a 3.9 liter V6, you may have incorrectly installed the push rods back into the engine. 3.5 liter intake push rods are approx 5 3/4" long, while the exhaust push rods are approx 6" long. The 3.9 liter intake push rods are approx 5.81" long, while the exhaust push rods are approx 6.1" long. If you mix the two lengths up when you put them back in the engine, you're going to have problems.
check the ground leg to your engine.. it runs off the neg. battery terminal. will connect to frame and engine.. pull it off, wire brush it put it back.. you radio will work, 'cause it draws much less current, and is grounded in dash.
The ignition lock cylinder tumblers get in a bind all the time on GM vehicles. It probably has little to do with inseting the wrong key. Try inserting the correct key and "jiggle" the key in the lock. You may have to jiggle it up and down and rotate (or try to rotate) the lock cylinder forward and backward. It will probably work just fine if you can wiggle it with just the right combination. If not, you may have a damaged lock cylinder and you will have to replace it. - most likely nothing you did....I change at least two or three of these things every week...VERY COMMON.
Chevrolet Malibu, Malibu Maxx 2004-06; 2006 HHR, Cobalt, Pontiac G6, Solstice Turn ignition to run engine off. Display OIL LIFE RESET in the Driver Information Center (DIC). Press and hold the ENTER button for at least one second. An ACKNOWLEDGED’ display message will appear for three second or until the next button is pressed. This will tell you the system has been reset. Turn the key to OFF. If the “CHANGE ENGINE OIL” message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
