89' Suzuki Samurai

Bought a used 1989 Suzuki Samurai, Everything else is fine execpt when I go up a Steep hill the car starts to **** and dies, but on a straight road works perfectly fine. Please advice

I'm guessing it may have a weber installed. They are known to flood going up hill. Fuel gets into the vents inside the carb and causes flooding. You can turn the carb around, but it will flood going down steep hills but a bunch of folks have better results with it doing that.

Set ur carb floats its probly flooding thatswat id sugest

    i have an 87 zuk it did that now it cause i set the floats now the starter dont work fuel pump out when it starts u gotta contantly keep pumping the **** outa the gas to try an keep gas to the carb i tried helpin you maybe u can help out later on BFord

I have a 1986 zuki samurai and have had it for about 3 months and it has ran like a top but two days ago i was driving it and it just died and would not start back i checked the fuel pump it is working...


Sounds like the timing belt has broke but without a look ? head under the bonnet and kick up the exhaust i honestly couldnt say please ask a local mechanic to have a look for you

Samurai runs fine till tou turn on anything


need to make sure the altanatator is working right. might be shorting out while idling ive heard of it before does it do it more when u turn the ac on

sounds like the electric fuel pump is failing the backfire is a result of a really lean fuel mixture, it is hard to say if u did any damage, most likely not because the pump is inside a anti-slosh baffle

Samurai engine swap


It will fit if you:

1. Use an adaptor for the new front wheel engine and the original transmission of your suzuki ( ask your machinist)
2. Have your propeller shaft from the transmission to the independent transfer case resized depending on the outcome of your engine mount.
3. adjust the bracket of your transfer case if you need more room for the propeller.(optional)
4. you dont need to change gear ratio if you plan to use the same tires
