Question about 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

Windows stopped working.

All of my power windows stopped working. I have a 99 jeep grand cherokee. I checked all fuses and wires and all seems to be ok except.......
I noticed the factory infinity amp was pulled at some point and the wires were cut. It appears that the idiot soldered the wires back into the harness.
My radio only has sound from 1 speaker as well. Is this all connected?
If so, if I wanted to pull the factory amp out, how would I go about rewiring the wires so they work without the amp?
I really need help. I am a disabled vet with not a lot of money, and A 19 month old son. I cant afford to have him in a car with no working windows in the summer.

Windows do not work, locks do but not drivers side/ please advise grand Cherokee 04.

1. Check the fuse that supplies the power windows.
2. If the fuse is good, then check the wiring harness that passes to the drivers door. If there's a broken wire, power will not be supplied to the windows and they won't work.

Let me know what you find.

Power windows won t work

There are broken wires in the wiring harness between the frame and your driver's side door. These wires control all the windows and door locks in a 95 Jeep. Same thing happened to me. You will have to cut the rubber boot to get it off and check which wires are broken and repair them.

Power windows won t work

MY POWER WINDOWS WOULD WORK AND THEN NOT WORK, IT SEEMED TO BE WHEN I WOULD SHUT THE DOOOR THEN THEY WOULD WORK, THEN CLOSE THE DOOR AGAIN AND THEN THEY WOULD QUIT AGAIN. THEY ALL STOPPED WORKING AT THE SAME TIME, IT SEEMS TO HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. NOW THEY WON'T WORK AT ALL.

The "power windows fuse" have 26 position in the fuse box. Check this info: ZJ-Secc-8W-Wiring-Diagrams (Page 8W-7 Fig. 12)

For location of Fuse Block see the page 8W-10 (front passenger side).

Good luck!!!
