Question about 2000 Mitsubishi Galant

1 Answer

Oil light comes on and engine stalls out.

I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant. I bought it used. The problem I am having is when I press the brake/slow down the oil light comes on and the engine either stalls completely out or it sounds as if it is trying to cut off. I have had the spark plugs changed, two oil changes. There is enough oil according to the dip stick. I am completely at a loss. Can you advise as to what might be causing this problem!

The probable causes are: 1. The drive belts are slipping. 2. The drive pulleys for some engine accessories are misaligned. 3. You have turned the steering wheel to the limits. 4. The drive belts are loose.5. Your brake drum backing plates are rubbing against the brake drum. The brakes also might be a problem. check the brake drums/discs. Finally check your wheel and wheel alignment.

My 2002 Mitsubishi Galant has 145,000 miles. While driving it started to shake, ****, and almost stall out, but not completley. It feels okay until you put the car in gear. When you open the oil cap there...

sounds like you have a blown head gasket or either a broken piston ring. Check oil to see if it looks milky or creamy colored if so you have water and oil mixing.

Engine rumbles hard

Sounds like it maybe a vaccum leak because when you apply the brake you brake booster uses vaccum to assist in braking so maybe theres not enough vaccum (air) going into the engine so its causing it to stall. Thats just a guess
