Power windows only work using master drivers side controls
It seems that I can't get the Window Lock on my Olds 2001 Alero to release. The windows will only open using the drivers side controls. What do I need to do to fix this problem?
Re: Power windows only work using master drivers side...
You will need a new switch on the masters door any thing you do to the lock out will show a short one way or the other and cause problems. Not the news you wanted to hear.

Do the individual door switches work their windows? If so, it would be the driver's side door switch, the master switch, that is bad. The fact that one window works off the driver switch means that power for the windows is at least getting to the master switch, and that the ground for all power windows is good. If the other door switches work, it is just the master switch, not a wiring problem.
if more than one power window not working you have blowed fuse or you have window on lock out mode on the master control switch on the driver side.if master window control switch on driver side wont work but 2 windows will work using their switch the master control switch on driver side is bad.
Check your fuses for power windows if those sare fine take a test light and see if your switch is getting power to and from it.Could just be a bad switch or motor
This problem is very likely caused by the drivers side power window switch being defective, I have seen this very same problem in the shop more than once and the new master switch fixed it. here is the part number and price from www.Rockauto.com
AIRTEX Part # 1S3874-Left front Power Window Switch. Price $105.79
There shouls be 2 straps inside the trunk at the top. Both on the driver side but one is for the left side and one for the right side seats. Pulling on the straps releases the 'lock' that should then allow you to pull down the seats from the back seat area.
