Question about 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette

Labor charge for replacement of alternator

I just had my 1999 Olds Silhouette van in for repairs and was shocked that the labor alone was close to $600.00. The part itself was $39.99. The shop foreman mentioned something about 2 alternators. Apparently the one that had to be replaced required a lot of time.
If so, what is the going rate per hour and how many hours should this job have required. Thank you.

Where is the voltage regulator on a 2004 Ford E-250 van and how can I replace it?

The voltage regulator is internal to the alternator. They are not very often replaceable independently anymore. There are still a few electrical shops that can replace just the regulator, but for the price and labor involved, you would be better off to replace the entire alternator. You will need a new or used alternator to repair a non-charging issue.

Silhouette load levelling compressor keeps coming on

you can pull the fuses, but it is hard wired so it might have relays that need to be pulled, or you can just fix it, and replace the air shocks/struts with regular shocks/struts

Estimate of labor charges for replacing alternator on a 2002 Silhouette.

Typically the Silhouette and the Transport are the same vehicle. I spent about 45 minutes to replace the Alternator on my former Transport. It depends upon the prevailing Labor Rate what you will have to pay. I would guess somewhere around $75-$200 fro Labor alone.

Rear spring shock is broken on my pontiac montana van, year make 2002,is it easy to fix or how much will it cost, thank`s

I usually charge a base price on shocks and change shocks I charge around 30.00 or 40.00 dollars labor per pair.struts i charge 65.00 per pair.i'm cheeper than most guys because of the rural small town i live in here in alabama.but it may be your leaf spring not real sure by the discription, you could mean the shock,or the strut but it could mean the leaf spring which i think montanas have a shock and leaf spring set up not struts.i can't pull up my picture in my head too clearly,i've seen underneath hundreds of those vans just can't remember.hope i helped you with a price, don't let any body rip you off on the labor cause shocks are fairly easy to change.

Average costs

The labor is most expensive part of this repair.
On the 3.4 L V6 engine, the labor should be about 1 1/2 hours times the shop labor rate.
If the 4 cylinder, then the labor is much higher due to the location of the thermostat.
