1999 Lincoln T/C parked in garage fro 1 year. Battery newly charged. Wont start. Runs on starter can fluid. Though about disconnecting fuel line and draining line to get fule from tank through. Dont really know what to do. Put octane boost in tank and agitated it. help?

I have tried taking the gas cap off without success. It doesnt seem as if the gas is getting to the engine. I was thinking that the fuel in the lines may have gone bad and wont fire. I dont know how to disconnect. I thought that if I could disconnect the line I could pump the fuel through to get new fuel from the tank. I have about 8 gallons in the tank. I have added STP treatment and agitated the tank.

If it was me i would take the gas cap off for a moment to see if there is a vapor lock in the gas tank then i would put it back on and then try starting the car also make sure your battery is fully charge i do not drive my Lincoln T/C in the winter but i always take the battery out and bring it inside to keep it warm and i start it up from time to time

disconnect the line in front of the fuel filter to see if gas is going through it be sure to take the gas cap off first so you don't loose those 8gals of gas in the tank

Do you have power at the starter terminals ?
Have you checked the battery cable connections, and is the battery fully charged ?

Wont start acts like a dead battery wont even click when trying to start, had the battery checeked and charged still wont start 2001 town and coutry

Could be the starter. Check the cable from the battery to the starter. If that's o.k., on a level surface (so it won't roll very far) Pull the gear lever down in drive and try to move it forward a little. If the starter is bad the armator or the bendix may move enough to engage. Try tapping the starter lightly with a hammer. Some towns have shops that will repair a starter cheaper than you can buy a rebuilt one. Check the price first though.

My sons Lincoln Town car has a charging problem, I think! How do I rule the alternator? And does the town car need the battery to run? I always thought the battery was for starting the car?

Is the battery light on? If so, the alternator is probably bad. The battery starts the car. The car runs off the alternator, and keeps the battery charged.
