Question about 1998 Porsche Boxster

Open Question

Rough running porsche boxster

Over the winter my 2001 2.7 boxster has been struggling to run when first started after a cold night. I've serviced the car, usual stuff - oil, fuel and air filter, new plugs and an oil change. Since the service the car is now running rough between 1200-2000 rev's. It also sounds like its gasping for air when you rev up. It's since been put on the computer but no fault found. Some suggestions are that it could be the maff (if thats what its called) sensor.

SOURCE: Porsche PCM Radio & CD Changer Fault.

paul it really sounds as if that dealer is trying to stroke u....my suggestion would to call porshe and find out who the district manager or manager of the stores in ur city or even county and tell him or her of ur problem... and how u feel about this problem.. and ask why a car would be returned to u in worse condition than when u took it there... its very possible that the change of the battery wasnt done correctly and may have blown ur ecu... id get in contact with the district service manager (dsm) as soon as possible..u paid alot of money for this car and for its service.. and should be entitled to quality work performance..

SOURCE: manually openning the trunk of a 2002 porsche boxster

It can only be done using the key fob. Othersise use button inside the car. If your battery is flat you need a donor battery wiring to a connection in the fuse box (positive) anf door lock(negative) but see your hand book.

On my 2001 porsche boxster is the daytime running lights supposed to stay on or blink

They are supposed to stay on. Why would they blink? Are you referring to the turn signals? They're the only ones that should blink.

The electrical light and oil light are on 2001 boxster s

Are they on when the car is running? If so, check your OIL asap. Don't drive it. Could be a fault since the battery light is on too (usually means a bad alternator or battery), but better to be safe than sorry

Rough engine idle and check engine light on and engine knock

take it to a dealer unless there is someone that you know that can work on that kind of a car, sounds like the motor is going to have to be rebuilt if there is rod knock

Sure - just like any other car, once your Boxster is running, it is more than capable of powering the starting system of another car.

Ignition locking on by 2001 Porsche Boxster S

It is known for ignition switches to fail. Sometimes they won't turn, other times they leave the starter engaged and sometimes the radio, A/C or wipers won't work. You may crank the car to start sometimes and the key does not spring back from crank to run. Check this first. Good luck....

You should be able to enter the 4 digit code via the radio2_bing.gif. If the radio has been replaced, you may need to recover the radio's serial number: Porsche Boxster: Online Lost Radio Code Recovery Tool

2001 porsche boxter engine running hot

My 2000 Boxster developed a pin hole leak in the coolant reserve tank in the rear trunk. The trunk floor is actually raised, which allowed the coolant to go unnoticed, since the carpet never got wet. I would pull back the carpet on the side and see if there is coolant in the trunk area. If so, the plastic reserve tank will run you about $300 for the part. It is a bit of a pain to replace, but something the average home mechanic can do. Only real hassle was the hose clamps in the engine bay were installed before the engine, hence the engine was in the way of the screw head.
