Question about 2002 Lincoln LS
I had similiar problem. I removed the IAC ( IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE) and sprayed it clean with throttle body cleaner. Allowed to air dry, reinstalled and problem solved. Hope your is as simple as this.

With the information you provided(which isn't very much) I believe your problem could be Transmission or Torque converter related. Can you explain a little more about the problem.
Where is the noise coming from, and can you be a little more specific about the noise?
So when you shift into drive with your foot on the brake the rpms will go up from idle. So idle is roughly 1000 rpms and the idle then shoots up to how much?
Does the idle go back down after a certain amount of time?
Answer these questions and we can try to get to the bottom of this problem a little better.
