Try tightening the gas cap where it clicks three times...I had the same problem...I had never heard of such a solution, but tightening the gas cap worked...no more 'check engine' light.

Just bought a corolla sport2004,it shows engine oil light on dashboard after working for about 30minutes,and wont off until i switch off the engine and restart....cause and solution please

Lots of possible causes / solutions. Make sure that oil is correct type and amount, make sure there are no leaks, check any oil cooler for damage, look at eack spark plug in turn making sure that they only show light brown not black discoloration, change oil and filters. Hard to say more without seeing.

First while running engine light came on. Turned off. Now will crank but will not start.

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

From start to end troubleshooting these problems I suggest you to check the help link below and follow its procedure: -----

Mostly all types of car no start problems are discussed here with solutions:---

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

Check engine light comes on and off, these are indication that there is some error code stored in your vehicles ECM. The engine module computer needs to be scanned. These will give the code and as per the error code the further problem can be detected and confirmed. The engine light indicator blinks or remains steady on dash when engine computer noticed any problem with any engine electrically operated components.

For more help, I suggest you to refer the help link provided below. These will let you know more about which areas to look, check, when there is engine light coming up on dash panel.

2002 Isuzu Trooper Check Engine Light Flashing Now Wont Start

Hello

The engine and the automatic transmission in this vehicle are computer controlled and in most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is stored in the memory of the computer control module. There are exception to this, such as the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure problems. What must be done is to have all the basic testing done such as a scan of the system for fault codes as well as a check with a live data scanner tool for engine functions that are not within range of normal, a trained technician is required to know what is correct and what isn't, then based on careful diagnostics done from a factory repair manual the correct part is replaced or the wiring repaired or the computer replaced (known as the PCM), which is very rarely the problem. Other basic checks must be done as well such as mechanical problems with the engine as well as engine state of tune and mileage on the engine. The transmission can have mechanical issues as well such as no gear engagement at all or a failed pump or other pressure related problems.

My van wont start. It acts as though it will, but wont. When you turn the key over, it will try to start (sometimes), but nothing, and other time it wont do anything at all. Also, the security light blinks...

If you see a SECURITY light, then this is whats causing all the problems. Go to this link and read it all. Will help inform you about security systems and possible solutions for you that you can do yourself.

2001 dodge stratus check engine code Po442. I have replaced gas cap, looked at all lines I can trace with no visual problems. A guy at work has a hand held diognastic and cleared the check engine light...

Check the hose connceted to the EVAP cannister, they often split under the clamp on Dodge vehicles. If the hoses all chack out fine then you'll need to replace the EVAP purge solenoid.... any restriction in it or faulty reading received by it will trigger that code.

P0159 is what the read out tells me. Just what do I need to do about this? I turned off the 'Check Engine Light' and it's still off after 2 days. But......!!!

What does that mean? This involves the rear oxygen sensor on the passenger side. This code indicates the engine air fuel ratio is not being adjusted by the oxygen sensor signal or the ECM as expected to do so, or not adjusted as often as expected to do so once the engine is warmed or under normal engine use.

Symptoms You will likely not notice any drivability problems, although there may be symptoms.
Causes A code P0159 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • The oxygen sensor is faulty
  • The wiring to the sensor is broken / frayed
  • There is an exhaust leak
Possible Solutions The simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.
If the code comes back, the problem is more than likely the rear passenger side oxygen sensor. You will likely wind up replacing it but you should also consider these possible solutions:
  • Check and fix any exhaust leaks
  • Check for wiring problems (shorted, frayed wires)
  • Check the frequency and amplitude of the oxygen sensor (advanced)
  • Check for a deteriorating / contaminated oxygen sensor, replace if necessary
  • Check for inlet air leaks
  • Check the MAF sensor for proper operation
