Hi,
I have a 2003 320d tourer with the original stereo head unit fitted.
I bought the car with an after amrket car kit fitted, which includes a replacement aerial.
The radio has difficulty tunning into any stations, if I am lucky to tune into a station the rds shows the channel name but will not retune if there is a frequency change.
What can solve the problem?
Can anyone help me to overcome this issue?
Thanks in advance.
Was the aftermarket kit made in China? If so, that's probably your main problem!

SOURCE: 98 BMW M3 radio has poor or no reception
Check first the connection of the radio to the antenna... there is a cable that should go to the back of the radio. See if the cable insulation (the rubber like covering) has openings or the connection is loose before checking any of the devices that may boost the signal.

SOURCE: Changing time on BMW 320 D SE Touer
Procedures for changing the clock vary from model to model. Usually there is some button on the trip computer that you hold down until the display blinks.
Why not just look in the owners manual?

SOURCE: RDS reception with BMW Business radio
Well i remember the M25 being built so i wouldnt know about radio reception ,but i do remember radio london and caroline. Now i would imagine that this sort of auto reset of tuning reception is controled by a micro chip and this chip is now not working as it should so if you want it to work then its most likely cheaper to install a new radio.Or just use long wave for radio 4.

Hi,
Thanks for the links.
2 questions-
1. How do I know if it has an aerial fitted in the rear window. All I can see is the rear demister, the same on the side windows.
2. How do I remove the trim on the ceiling of the car?
Cheers
Neil
does the car have the original rear window antenna and the previous owner installed the aerial?
if you have a rear window antenna (instead of using the aftermarket aerial), make sure the antenna amplifier is reconnected. see #2 in this pic:

if it also has the side window antenna, then connections to this side window amp (#5 in the pic) should also be checked.

also, make sure the antenna cable is securely connected to not only the HU, which i am sure you did when you reinstalled the unit.
the car has the original radio unit installed or it was reinstalled after you bought it?
who reinstalled the original unit?
difficulty tuning into FM stations only or does it do the same for AM stations too?
