Question about 1996 Ford Thunderbird LX
Its located on the passenger side of the dashboard, in the door pillar, you must remove the lower side cover. I found to be easier if you remove the globe box too. You will see the arness that go to the ECU. You must move the plastic retainer and then you can unscrew the bolt that secures the arness to the ECU. Hope this help.

Disconnect the battery & any fuel lines you can and the same with electrical connectors first of all. Drain the tankwith a siphon pump if 3 gallons or more of fuel is present. It gets heavy to replace back in and dangerous too.. Have the tank supported now & remove the bolts from the tanks mounting straps. Drop the tank down about 6 inches and check for other connection that need to be removed
RFemove the center retainer to remove the fuel pump with the sending unit
I would replace both items since it is an older car and also replace the filter sock to the pump too
Reverse this procedure to install
