HELLO: I WAS LOOKING AT ALL THE PROBLEMS FOLKS ARE HAVING AND I SAW YOURS AND I STOPPED DEAD IN MY TRACKS BECAUSE #1 I LOVE A CHALLENGES AND#2 I CANT BELIEVE SOME ONE WOULD CLEAN AN OX SENCER ! THEY CAN NOT BE CLEANED AND MY BIG QUESTION IS HOW IN THE WORLD DID IT GET SO DIRTY IT COULD BE THAT NOTICEABLE,THE ONLY THING THAT IS TO COME IN CONTACT WITH IT IS EXHAUST AT 1300 DEGREES? IF IT WAS THAT DIRTY THEIR IS MORE THAN EXHAUST ENTERING THE EXHAUST SYSTEM, YOUR FRIEND MAY BE RIGHT,BUT FIRST LETS TRY THIS. DOES IT BLOW WHITE SMOKE WHEN RUNNING?DO U HAVE TO PUT WATER IN IT NOW AND THEN?,ALSO HAVE SOMEONE DO A COMPRESSION TEST ON THE ENGINE AND CHECK THE SPARK PLUGS AT-THE SAME TIME TO SEE HOW THEY ARE BURNNING(SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT TO LOOK FOR) YOUR LOCAL AUTO SUPPLY STORE HAS THE SPECS FOR YOUR ENGINE (COMPRESSION FOR THE CYLINDERS)IN REPAIR MANUALS FOR YOUR TRUCK,$15-20.IF YOUR TRUCK WAS RUN AT A LONG TIME AND GOT OVER HEATED TO A CRITICAL POINT MANY THINGS MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED SO IN THIS CASE START WITH THE BIG ONE FIRST, THE MOTOR! IF IT CHECKS OUT OK DO THE PROCESS OF ELIMINATION. PLUGS WIRES NEW OX SENSERS JUST TO MENTION A. WELL HOPE I GAVE U SOME HELP!, GOOD LUCK TO U.

2001 eclipse engine dies when acceleratoris not engaged. Engine will not idle.

Idle is controlled by idle air motor and they can get dirt clogged and be cleaned. Of course, all tune up items can also cause this, as well as bad O2 sensor, TPS, EGR, and others.

I have a 1995 toyota hilux-truck-22re ? 4 cylinder-idle speed up and down-500 to 1000 rpms- 1000 to 2200 rpms-no heat until idle speed levels off-whats the cause?

There is no "One" answer for this problem. You will need to run tests to confirm. What have you checked, tested, repaired, or replaced so far? Is the Engine Light on? If so, I need to know what the codes are. Please have them read. From you description, it sounds like your vehicle has a vacuum leak. The ECU is having a hard time controlling the idle. Check for vacuum leaks at hoses, the plenum, and brake booster. Check the EGR and Idle Air control valve. Check fuel-line pressure (check it with the engine off and compare it to the engine running). It is hard to test O2 sensors unless you know how to but you can remove them and do the "Shake Test". All you do is remove the O2 sensor and shake it next to your ear. If you hear a rattle noise, it is junk. It is possible that one or more fuel injectors are dirty, clogged, or worn (causing this issue). The more information you can provide me the better I can help you narrow this down, good luck.

Low fuel pressure can cause this or a clogged filter, has the fuel pressure been checked? Has the fuel filter ever been changed?

My jeep is acting like it's choking and sputtering.

O2 sensors will not cause this symptom. Have the fuel pressure tested with a special test gauge and also clean the inside of the Mass Airflow sensor with the special spray they make and change out the air filter to the engine if it is dirty.

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

Looks like that you have a bad O2 sensor. If the O2 sensor is faulty the car may shake and there's noticeable bad emission odor. I strongly suggest that you have it replaced. You can find this sensor on the exhaust manifold.

Do you have an erratic idle? If you do then the MAF sensor must be replaced as well. A bad idle can cause the vehicle to shake. Keep me posted regarding the progress.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

I have a 99 accord that lacks power when I hit a hill. It runs fine and gets good mileage but I have to downshift from 5th to 4th on minor hills. Check engine light is off.

howdy, there are a few things on your 99 Accord that could cause that problem. usually all will eventually turn on the check engine light in time. make sure your check engine light is working when the key is first turned to run.

* a partially clogged catalytic converter.
* faulty O2 Sensor (Bank 1 Sensor1).
* low fuel pressure caused by a bad fuel pump, clogged fuel filter(in the tank) or a bad fuel pressure regulator on the injector rail.
*bad ignition switch which can cause intermittent stalls.

now i don't know which engine you have, (i'm guessing a 4cyl.) there were two 2.3L- 4cyl. engines (F23A1 & F23A4) and a 3.0 V6. but if you also have a rough idle or low idle miss, a jumped timing belt can also causing loss of power.

if you know anyone with a scanner that reads the computer datastream, see what the O2 Sensor (Bank 1 Sensor1) is doing & look at fuel trim readings. Also check backpressure on the converter where that O2 Sensor is screwed in.

please let me know if i have helped, totally confused or scared you to death! Good Luck!
