There is a problem with the thermostat gaskets. Often times they leak and allow cars to overheat. Check under your car and make sure that there is no coolant leaking. MINI has updated the gasket so if you get your car serviced at a mini dealer then your gasket will be updated. There is not a bulletin or recall for this replacement this would be at your cost.

Hit a snow embankment and 2009 Mini will not turnover

Did you hit the front of the Mini? Minis have a very tight engine compartment. If you hit the embankment hard enough it likely damaged the front of the engine and something may be rubbing.

Why mini cooper 03 overheats while the AC is on?

Check to see if the electric cooling fans are working. Some of the fans have 2 speeds and some need to operate on high speed constantly when the air is on. High speed could be a burnout.

There should be a temperature sensor, a fan Relay, and then the electric cooling fans.

Mini Cooper temperature gauge goes to red zone when idle

check coolant level could be too low allowing air in the cooling system causing air pocket in engine around the engine coolant sensor.coolant sensor needs to be in hot coolant so it will cause the cooling fan to come on at a set temperature.make sure coolant correct level and the coolant level in the cooling overflow jug should be at full cold mark.the cooling overflow jug should never be empty,if you see empty cooling overflow jug air got in the cooling system so make sure when engine cold every time raise hood make sure cooling overflow jug coolant level at full cold mark.if jug stay empty you have cooling leak.so replace radiator cap,if coolant level all good,i would replace the engine coolant temperature and thermostat.when your car come to a long stop or driving along long line of slow moving traffic the engine coolant blower motor should running if not have vechicle code scan for faulty coolant fan motor control module.or ecm problems.

2005 mini cooper battery was dead, bought new one and now will not crank. Radio and lights come on.

Have you looked into the PSP (Power Steering Pump) relay, or the cooling fan? This problem has been know to create issues and lead to a dead battery. For more information, read this forum of MINI owners, there are quite a few with your issue, and they are trying to get a recall. the 2005 MINI's also have a headlight recall.

I just read in the 2009 Consumer Report Best and Worst Cars

The main cooling issue that is for the 05 cooper is the Thermostat gaskets leak. MINI has updated the part but has not issued a bulletin or recall. Check under your car often and make sure there is not a puddle of coolant. They just updated the part within the last 3 months, so it is still pretty new. The old gasket is a white color and the new one is a semi clear. The only thing that you can do is be on the look out for coolant leaking on the floor in the middle or towards the drivers side of the engine bay, Almost positive that MINI will not allow you to replace a part under warranty unless your thermostat is leaking. Hope that helps answer your question
