Question about 1966 Ford Mustang

1 Answer

I have a 1968 mustang with 1966 289 c. code .engine starts good .idels ,good till it reaches running temp. then it sounds like the rockers start to chatter .and mis fires till it dies.it has 40psi on oil gage while its cold . but drops to 0 psi when it warm .im guessing the oil pump is bad . and causing the bearings to get hot and binding the engine. if some one could help me it would be great. thanks for your time.

Mustang ran hot now starts but engine sounds rough, still running hot

this could be a number of problems , firstly with engine running remove radiator cap see if large bubbles of air appear, blown head gasket. second depending how long engine is running before temp rises to overheating, thermostat. third, O2 sensor could be damaged this will cause rough running and slight increase in engine temp.(unlikely if idles well) fourthly damaged valves (inlet/exhaust)

This is due to the fact that it possibly hasn't gone for a check-up in quite a long time. There are only two things that can cause this kind of problem and they are
1. If the battery is low or the kick starter is bad. A very good way to determine if the battery or kick stater is good is to watch out for the sound that the engine produces while you keep trying to start the vehicle. If you notice any kind of slow winding of the engine gears(i.e sluggish sound instead of usual energetic sound). A bad kick starter would lead you to keep trying to start the engine and eventually make the battery to die.
secondly, there might be a problem to your fuel supply. It might not be supplying enough fuel into the combustion chamber (be it carburetor or injector) therefore limiting the supply of available fuel to start up the engine.
The best thing to do is to send it to a mechanic to run a complete diagnosis on the engine to know if there might be any other issues as this is a very old engine and requires delicate care.
Hope this solution was helpful to you? Please comment for more information

2002 nissan frontier 3.3L has check engine light on code is P0128 I would li to know what is the problem

po128 usually means your engine is not reach a high enough operating temp. the most likely cause is a stuck open thermostat, make sure you have good clean coolant in your vehicle, and replace the thermostat and radiator cap is a good cheap place to start if your into doin it yourself.

hi, this is a common problem and the main problem is going to be with the oxygen sensor ( also called lambda sensor) replacing this should solve your problem.

When you first start your car you will find that it will run ok as the oxygen sensor only starts working when it reaches a certain temperature so this is most likely the cause of your problem. It can be expensive to get the part but it will solve your problem.

Let me know how you gwt on or if you need further assistance ok
