Question about 2001 Chrysler Town & Country
Hi, My wife says there is an awful odor (fumes she thinks) when she opens the car after it sets closed up for 15 minutes or so... She is not sure if it dissipates after driving long or if she just gets used to the smell... Needless to say she is not too fond of driving the car too far a distance... The strangest thing about this is that she mentioned this to me about 2 mos ago and it seemed to go away after a few days but now it is back... Any suggestions? Thank you, John
You should have the computer scanned for fault codes. Many times the engine is running to rich and causes the catalytic converter to overheat. This will cause a rotten egg type smell.
Can you post back with a description of the odor? Does it smell like gasoline or oil?
It also could be a carbon monoxide smell that could be very dangerous, it is a possibility that exhaust fumes are entering the cabin of the vehicle, this could lead to poisoning.
Let me know what you find and if I can assist further. Lone99star
