1996 tahoe, 5.7 vortec, starter klicks when key is turned

When I get in my truck and try to start it, all you here is a klicking noise I beleave at the starter. If I do this several times she will eventualy turn over and start. I had replaced the starter thinking that was the problem but it still does it. Battery connections look good and clean. Don't see any bad wires,,,, that I can see.

I didn't replace it per say. I took a relay of the same type and number, I think my AC, and swaped around with no luck. Maybe both are bad. Maybe I'll test it.

If you have not had a load test done on the battery or cleaned the battery posts and terminals then that would be a good place to start. You can have lights but when the starter is engaged the voltage drops right off and the solenoid just clicks.

Starter, new battery, turn key and just klicks

One click or a bunch of clicks when you hold the key on start? Turn the interior lights on and try to start it. Do the lights stay on okay or do they dim a lot or go out? If out, not enough power coming out of the battery.

Wont start. fuel pump klicks once only. no spark from plug wire

First check the fuses from the battery. The distributor is used to induce the induction coil which in turn sends it to the plug. Hence the contact point of the arm(silver contact point) needs to be replaced.....sodeep
