I would not recommend just resetting the light unless you have corrected the reason it was on…..Your vehicle’s computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with one of the components or sensors it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light to tell you that there is a problem and you need to diagnosed and repaired it. The list of possible codes number in the hundreds. The code itself doesn't tell exactly what component is defective - it only indicates where to look, or what engine parameter is out of normal range. You or a technician will have to perform further testing to pinpoint cause and the proper repair. Even if you reset the light, if the underlying problem is not addressed it will come back on.

Who would be the dealership for a saturn 2000 ls ,i bought it used and radio needs code

Saturn is a GM product, take it to any Chevy dealer and they should be able to help you. Although, if the previous owner left the car manual in the glove box then the factory unlock code should be there, unless they previous owner changed the code then the dealer will have to reset it.

I have a 1999 saturn with a p1283 code in it, any help would be of much thanks

This code indicates, "Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor 2 Circuit High Voltage" on your Saturn. Check the wiring at the sensor. If the wiring is good then replace the sensor.

I am buying a relatives car. He says the radio won't work because of something with the antitheft device. Can this be fixed?

If the car has something better than the standard AM/FM/CD there is a
code needed to make the radio functional. This is to deter thieves from stealing what would then be a worthless radio. A dealer can fix this for you, for a fee. A cheaper way around it would be to buy a stock bottom tier Saturn radio from ebay which does not need the code. Note the L series radios are not interchangeable with the pre-2000 S series radios.

Cooling fan stays on on my 200 l-series saturn but the car drives fine why would the fan be staying on

1. Check for a code P0128 stored in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

2. If there is a P0128, clear the code and see that the coolant fan turns off.

3. Replace the thermostat and check that the coolant temperature stays close to 195 degrees while driving.
