I have a 1999 VW passat wagon that have the abs, brake and check

I have a 1999 VW passat wagon that have the abs, brake warning and check engine lights that won't go out. I replaced the brakes that were bad and tried to reset the codes but it won't reset or read the codes. Also the rear wiper does not shut off and my electric windows on the passenger side and back driver side will not work. I checked all the fuses and none were blown but now of course the radio is locked and I have no code.

the abs/brake light is a short in the electrical panel. I have been told the electric in VWs is always the first to go. My mechanic said it would be about $1200 to fix, but I opted not to and the car still passes inspection if you can deal with the annoyance.

I changed the comfort module with one from the junk yard and it fixed the problem for a few days. The wiring was messed up also so the wires can lock in plug to the module correctly. I went to start it the other day and it now has the same problem. The abs light was fixed by the ABS module rebuild by the way, so that problem is gone. I was glad to here you csan drive car without the module being (electric part) being installed and it was easy to remove and send off for repair. Do you think the used corfort module is shot once again or something else now is bad? Hate to spend the $300 for a new one and find out it wasn't that this time. I can't believe VW dealer wants about $300 for splice wires and plugs to rebuild the bad plug. Wish I could find one in a junk yard.

About your comfort module it's 80% what bigben3600 wrote. About ABS we need code number and description as well. Changing pads isn't solution for ABS lght. Tell us also if there was something maintaining like joints or wheel bearings.

You might want to look at the wireing under the floor mat on the driver side. there is a well that water collects in and eats throught the wires. i had this happen to me and found 6 or 7 wires that rotted tru. i fixed the wirs and then used rtv(silacon calk) to cote all the wires to protect them frome more water damage. hope this helps.

VW Passat STOP brake fault warning

Check the fluid level in the resevoir. If it is low then top it up. However, it went low for a reason - maybe it's just because your brake pads starting to wear out or you could possibly have a brake fluid leak.

If your in any doubt have a pro check it out.

2002 VW passat wagon brakes

Check the level of the brake fluid, as the pads wear down the fluid level falls slightly and the sensor reacts and gives the warning, it may happen more as you are cornering and the brake fluid moves, try gently topping up the brake fluid it doesn't need much..

Oil light and brake lights blinks on and off and abs light is on

Just a idea. If the car is running at idle and the oil light blinks , it usually from low oil pressure. At a idle your seeing the light respond to the revolutions of the engine. ! thing to try is to replace the oil pressure switch on the engine block. And #2, Most causes in a VW is that the vehicle overheated at one time and weekend the oil pump,or massive amount of miles.

VW passatt warning lights staying on

Check the wires that are going to the brake pad sensors. Some shops will install pads that don't have the sensor connections on them, causing this light to stay lit.
