Question about 2003 Saturn ION

No Brake lights, fuse is not blown

None of the brake lights (Rear or rear window) on my 2003 L300 will work. Parking, head lights, hazards, interior lights all work.

Dealership said to replace all the bulbs as the rear window ones, when they blow can cause a voltage problem that blows all the bulbs. Does that sound possible? Is a short or bad realy more likely? If a relay, how do I remove to replace? (Dealer would not tell me how to change these!)

bulbs don't blow out from a short circuit, the fuse blows, it has no effect on the bulbs, look up the definition of a short. Try replacing your brake light switch, that may be the problem. If u had a voltage problem it would have to be over voltage condition, then all the bulbs in the car would fry, so rule that out.

Replace the bulbs, then , if they still don't work, replace the turn signal assembly. That's where the center brake light is controlled. As for the brake lights on the corners, that might be the switch behind the brake pedal. It is either bad, or needs adjusting.

Got the same problem on my 2004 Ion. Turns out there is another hidden 15 amp fuse in the dashboard by the radio area. Thats what has to be replaced when all else fails. Good Luck.

Rear brakelights and turn signals do not work

The turn signal and brake lights are controlled by the turn signal switch.
You did not mention parking lights so I will assume they work.

Could be a faulty turn signal switch or a wiring problem between the dash and the rear of the van.
