If you hear a click while turning the key this would indicate low charge in battery any reading under 12 on a tester would have trouble starting other than that loose battery leads have you tried jumping if it starts with a jump this would indicate battery.

Total dead no power-tried jump-then new battery-then nothing

Check you cables, see if you have a short in the grounding cable. The end grounding it to the car may have come loose. Have you ever replaced the cables? That would be my next step before you dump money into it. You know it isn't the battery so just work from there.

Dodge pick up 1981 doesn't fire

At the positive battery post, you have a cable with a large and small wire. The large wire goes to the starter relay, the small goes to the fuse box and the key switch. The small wire has a fuseable link between the battery and fuse box.
Do you have power on that wire as it goes into the fuse box ? And are the fuses hot with the key on ?

I suspect the key switch but I have had trouble starting the truck and I have a new battery. The truck won't do anything now when I turn the key. the funny thing is that it did start one day and then the...

fuseable links are located a few inches away for each componet
starter solenoid
alternator
any other factory option that uses more than 30 amps per hour
I do think you have a connection problem or a cable internally corroded
take jumper cables and connect to the starter and compare the ohm readings
the solenoid wire can be corroded as well causing a no start and no voltage reading too

1992 Toyota Camry won't crank

Check the ground cable going from the battery to
alternator, then to chassis. Make sure there is no
rust at the chassis ground wire terminal, and that it
is very tight. The fusible link will be off the alternator
red power cable, usually, but not 100% on that car.
Good luck.

Turned the key to start '99 Dodge Ram 1500, after 1 second of turning over, hand slipped & key turned off. Immediately turned key again to start, now the buzz sound of the fuel pump is lower in volume,...

Hello
The 1st thing to do is make sure the battery is not defective and that the battery post and cables are clean and free of corrosion and making a good connection, even if they seem ok clean them with a battery post and cable eyelet cleaning tool, they are available from any auto parts store for around $4.00, while u are there bring the battery with u and have it tested it is free at any of the many so called discount auto parts stores , these new sealed battery types can go just like that, one moment they crank the engine fine the next not, very common, have seen it dozens of times.

Try resetting the pinch protection program. You do this by inserting the key into the drivers side door, turning to the right and holding untill the windows are fully raised. Then you turn to the left and hold untill the windows are fully lowered. This is supposed to reset the program.

Good luck.
