the oil is clean under the cap is clean what is happening when i am bleeding the system right above the theromastat it just seem like there is no end to the air then you get a little fluid checked overflow repeatedly and topped up as needed and still seems like there is no end to the air

can you fill it up and use a rad presure test on it that will push out tha air .and also fill it up with the bleeder open .

Are both top and bottom hoses hot ?

after it has over heated can you check the oil and tell me the colour ?

when and after you filled it did it stay topped up with coolant or did to vaporize ?

also check the valve cover cap where you fill up for oil the underside what colour is it is it clean ,black , or creamy colour ?

Make sure that if you have electric fans, that they come on. Usually one fan for normal running and another for when a/c is used. Be sure they both work. If you changed the water pump, did you change the thermostat? This is not required but a real good idea to do both at the same time since you have the coolant out of the system. I would look at doing that as it could be sticking. Just a freak thing that shortly after doing pump, thermostat decides to act up. Not a very expensive fix either. If you have a/c, be sure that there is nothing to hamper air flow accross the condenser and radiator. Sometime leaves and trash can give you a headache when trying to figure out an overheating problem. Use a garden hose on a cool engine, and force water accross both condenser and radiator. Be sure you can see the water go through both,.
Good Luck

You never leave a car running, as it will

It depends on gas to lubricate it,as strange as it sounds

Suspect you have a loose clamp on a radiator hose or the oil change guy made something leak. There is a tool which is similar to a a bicycle pump in that it pressurizes the water system and your engine does not have to run or be hot to test. Some major auto parts stores may have a loaner.

Its going to stay hot and lose pressure until you fix the leak.

Bad water pump. The seals are more than likely shot. Usually at higher rpm the temp goes down and at idle it would overheat. Had a friend with the same problem.

96 jetta 2.0l still overheating

so u pretty much replaced everything there is that could be the problem, fans turn on right??pump is working right??thermo is new right??ok so during the process of changing every thing you could have trapped air pockets in the cooling system ive seen this numerous times you can start there its the cheapest start,1st remove the radiator cap,2nd turn heater on high setting and temp to heat max, 3rd start ur car let the system cycle thermo has to open and close at least 2x's water is going to overflow to the ground its ok just dont lketr it empty youll see bubbles like air comming out let it run like 15min like this, turn the car off let it cool then place the cap back on make sure the seal is ok on radiator cao too!!hopefully thats all u need if not u may need a head gasket repaired they sell a green liquid at kragen oriely for blown head gaskets its like 25.00 it works pretty good for about 6000 miles to 10,000 miles MAKE SURE IF U USE IT FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS!! GOOD LUCK
