Remove the wheels
Remove the brake caliper and caliper bracket
(Don't let caliper hang from hose....support the caliper with a bungee cord or piece of wire)
The rotor will then slide off of studs

How remove the rotor to change bearing for 2005 chev colorado front

first you remove all the lug nuts and the wheel and tire. To get the rotor off you will need to remove the brake caliper. they are held in with 1/4" hex screws. If you don't have an allen wrench you can use a socket extension to removes these. Once unscrewed the calpet simply lifts off the rotor and the rotor is ready to come off. You will need to remove the axle nut and keeper then the rotor slides off towards you and the wheel bearings will come out with the rotor.

How do I remove the Front rotor off a 2006 Dodge

the rotor is a slide on, some times the rust holds them on tight. in this case what i would do is hit the top hat of the rotor with a good size hammer all the way around it, then tap the back side of the rotor to gett it off. good luck

I need to know the procedure for r and r on a front rotor if this is something that can be done at home with limited tools?

1999 Taurus/Sable Section 06-03: Brakes, Front Disc 1999 Taurus/Sable Workshop Manual REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Procedure revision date: 06/25/1998 Disc Removal
  1. Raise vehicle on hoist.
  1. Remove wheel and tire assembly. Be careful to avoid damage or interference with caliper bleeder screw fitting and front disc brake rotor shield (2K004).
  1. ani_caut.gif CAUTION: Handle front disc brake rotor (1125) and disc brake caliper (2B120) assembly in such a way as to prevent deformation of front disc brake rotor , and nicking, scratching or contamination of brake linings/rotor surfaces.
NOTE: To prevent damage, do not allow disc brake caliper to hang by the front brake hose (2078) .

Remove caliper anchor plate bolts and discard. Position disc brake caliper out of the way. Prevent separation of caliper housing from anchor bracket because contamination of guide pin journals can occur.
  1. NOTE: If excessive force must be used during front disc brake rotor removal, the front disc brake rotor should be checked for runout prior to installation.

If additional force is required to remove front disc brake rotor , apply Rust Penetrant and Inhibitor F2AZ-19A501-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESR-M99C56-A on front and rear rotor/hub mating surfaces. First, strike front disc brake rotor between lug bolts (1107) with a plastic hammer. If this does not work, attach 2-3 Jaw Puller 205-D027 (D80L-1013-A) or equivalent and remove front disc brake rotor . Remove front disc brake rotor from wheel hub (1104) assembly by pulling it off the lug bolts.
Installation
  1. If original front disc brake rotor is being installed, make sure rotor braking and mounting surfaces are clean.
  1. ani_caut.gif CAUTION: Failure to clean rust and foreign material from rotor and hub mounting faces when installing new or old front disc brake rotors will result in high rotor runout, which will speed up the development of brake roughness shudder vibration.
Apply a small amount of Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound D7AZ-19A331-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M1C171-A to pilot diameter of front disc brake rotor.
  1. Install front disc brake rotor on wheel hub assembly.
  1. Install disc brake caliper and new caliper anchor bracket bolts on front disc brake rotor . Tighten caliper anchor bracket bolts to 88-118 Nm (65-87 lb-ft).
  1. ani_caut.gif CAUTION: Failure to tighten lug nuts (1012) in a star pattern may result in high rotor runout, which will speed up the development of brake roughness, shudder and vibration.
Install wheel and tire assembly on vehicle. Tighten lug nuts to 115-142 Nm (85-104 lb-ft) using Rotunda Accutorq® Lug Nut Socket 164-R0303 or equivalent on a 1/2 inch air impact wrench, or use a torque wrench.
  1. Lower vehicle.
  1. Pump brake pedal prior to moving vehicle to position brake linings.
  1. Road test vehicle.

REPLACING FRONT HUB STUDS FOR A 98 HONDA PRELUDE

To remove that hub you will destroy the bearing. Because you have to remove it with a slide hammer. It is not necessary to remove the hub to change the studs. Remove the caliper, caliper bridge and rotor. Using a hammer simply knock out the stud or studs you want to replace. Put new stud in and using a sleeve that has a bigger diameter than the stud (I use a big nut, like the one on the axle) put big nut over stud and screw lug nut on stud and tighten until head of stud is flush with hub. Re-install rotor, caliper bridge and caliper. Hope this helps.

Changing front rotors on F100 1978.

Jack the front up. Place jack stands under the axle so it wont fall on you. Remove the front wheels. Remove the brake calipers. Your vehicle will have two long bowed pieces that you knock out of a track to remove the calipersTwo on each side. Then remove the dust cover over the hub. Remove the kotter key and back the nut off and remove it. Gently pull on the rotor and remove it. After removal place it on some wood block with the face up. Place the lug nuts back onto the lugs to protect the threads. Use a heavy brass hammer to pound the lugs back through the rotpr one at a time until they are all removed. Remove the nuts from the lugs and push the lugs out completly and the rotor will lift off. Reverse the procedure to replace the rotor. While the hubs are off you may as well replace the wheel seals and grease the wheel bearings as you may have damaged the seals during removal. These steps should get the job done. If you need further clarification please feel free to ask. I'm more than glad to help direct or answer your questions. Let me know how it goes for you.

Remove the front disc rotor

The rotor and hub assembly are held together by the studs, you must first remove the 4-wheel drive hub assembly, then the wheel bearing nuts, and pull the hub and rotor off as a unit. Next lay it(back down) on a piece of wood, using a drift punch drive the studs out. Turn it over ,lay it(face down) on a block of wood, line the new stud splines up with the grooves in the hub and drive them in with the punch and reassemble. A set of dentist style picks will be helpful with the clip in the 4wd hub and a 4 lug 4wd nut wrench will be needed.
