There could be several possible reasons why your gear is not selecting and your speedometer is not working in your Toyota Corolla 2005. Here are a few possible causes:
The gear shift cable may be disconnected or damaged. The gear shift cable connects the gear shift lever to the transmission, so if it is damaged or disconnected, it may cause problems with selecting gears.
The transmission itself may be damaged. If the transmission is damaged, it may cause issues with selecting gears and may also affect the operation of the speedometer.
The speedometer cable may be damaged or disconnected. The speedometer cable connects the transmission to the speedometer, so if it is damaged or disconnected, it may cause issues with the speedometer.
There may be a problem with the vehicle's wiring or electrical system. If there is a problem with the wiring or electrical system, it could cause issues with the gear selection and speedometer.
To accurately diagnose and fix these issues, it will be necessary to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic. They will be able to perform diagnostic tests and determine the root cause of the problem.

There is a transfer case control computer in the dash on the left side around the headlight control, they will cause the blinking lights and not shifting.
I think it may be an electrical issue but I think it's just a fuse. There are 2 fuses I would check. One of them is a 15 amp fuse inside the fuse panel inside the vehicle (see fuse layout below) and the other is a 40 amp fuse in the fuse panel under the hood of the vehicle in the engine compartment (see other picture below). I marked the fuses to check and hope this is the problem.
when has the last time you had a trans serv. done on it? if you take it to a shop the will tell you that you need a rebuild. thrid gear and over drive are about burned up.
I would start with a transmission fliud and filter service.
I would then have the trasnmission checked out by a transmission shop. The transmission most of the time has the direct drum band is starting to go. The shops can rebuild it no problem, This is a very common failure wiith the trasnmission.
Your issue is a bad "speed sensor". Your speedometer is controlled by a sensor in your transmission, and when it quits working your speedometer will not work, it can cause very irregular shift patterns and slipping. Replacing your speed sensor should resolve your issues.
I hope this helps you, and I wish you luck on your repair.
