I haven't seen that happen on a Grand Am yet, but my best guess is either the headlight relay is bad or the ignition switch is defective.

Key in ignition or the spring in the ignition cylinder that activates chime for "key in ignition and door open" is stuck. Fast chime is lights and slow chime is key in ignition while door open

Is there any way I can turn off the low fuel warning chime on my 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee? The dealer wants $100 to do this.

This chime is also the same chime used for the doors. To remove this you will also be losing the ignition chime when the keys are in the ignition or when the doors open.
It can be removed simply by unplugging it. Just open the door with the keys in the ignition, look under the dash on the driver or passenger side. using you good hearing locate the chime and simply disconnect the plug from the back.

Do the following steps
1)With ignition key on. ( a shrt time after turning off engine) press the red reset button located in fuse panel , located on drivers side of dash panel. You can see the panel cover when drivers side door is open.
2) When the cange oil light starts to flash, press and hold the red button again.
the reset is complete when you hear the chimes and the oil light goes off.
