1998 Chevy Venture - engine loping on start-up

Recently the engine is loping on start-up and will do that every time I come to a stop for the first 10-15 minutes I drive the car. Then the loping stops and the engine runs smooth. Did oil change, and replaced the fuel filter but didn't solve the problem. Check engine light has never come on. Any ideas? Also, is it true that the diagnostic machine can't find out what's wrong with your car unless the check engine light is on?

Vaccum test the machine, this will narrow down the problems source....Idle air control(IAC) can and does malfunction without setting fault codes....Hence the old tried and true method of vaccum testing, also a fuel pressure test wouldn't hurt.....You can purchase all these tools from ebay for less than 100.00.....Well worth the initial investment...

1998 chevy venture low engine coolant light comes on but the coolant level is good. heater heat at max or is cold air. is this the thermastat?

you need to check the coolant in the radiator, not just in the overflow tank, you are describing a low coolant problem, the thermostat could be the resign you have no heat but it would not explain the low coolant light, remove the radiator cap ( only when the engine is cold ) and start the engine with the cap off and then fill up the radiator........HAVE FUN

Loping idle with a '98 Subauru 2.5

This usually happens when the fuel pump is loosing pressure.

I will just advice you make a replacement on the fuel pump. It is located in the fuel tank beneath the back seat.

Be sure to consider the rating on the fuel pump when replacing.

Good luck and rate my solution.
