T might be the dimmer switch next to the on off switch for the headlights or if you have a custom cd player or if someone has put a cd player in it recently it could be the wiring for that the wiring for the dash lights dimmer runs thru there

The good news is the code you have is very fixable! There is a "Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected."(Cylinder 2 is the one first one on the right if you are in front of the car and are facing the engine). There are a few ways to try and fix it; 1st. Replace the spark plug with OEM Platinum Champion plug only (the car was designed around these plugs). Remove the two screws on the coil and the connector and pull out the coil. Swap plugs. Start the car and drive it a little, see if the problem persists. If it does then you will need to replace the coil which a new one will cost you apx. $120.00 or if you go to the junk yard it may be something you put in your pocket and leave.

After both attempts you should clear the code by going to your local part store and borrowing their OBD machine. If not unplug the battery for five min. The spark plug should work; the coils go out very rarely. If you have any questions you may email me at [email protected].

SOURCE: Radio CD not working & lights don't flash remote keylock

Sometime the computer in car will shut down a circuit when it sees a problem even if it only occure once. You can try to disconnect the battery for at least 2 min so all sys power off (some have capacitors that mantaine a charge for short time). If a battery disconnect does not clear problem you have go to dealer and have them to clear codes and reset you modules and your preferences

SOURCE: 2000 Dodge Ram - No hazard flashers

Possibly blew out the hazard flasher unit. Check the flasher unit (usually there are 2, one for directionals and one for flashers).

2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trak. Replaced steering shifter tube and went to start the truck and the key is in the Off position but my dash lights are On?

Numerous connectors in the steering column have to be removed to replace the shifter tube. It's very likely there's a connection issue or possibly a short causing the dash lights to stay on.

Best way to pinpoint the problem is to go through the process of removing the shifter tube, but without removing it. Undo each connector one by one, with the key in the ignition in the OFF position.

As you pull each connector off, the light should go off when/if you've found the problematic wire or connector.

This generation of Buick seems to have a faulty speedo cluster illumination circuit.
I have an '01 and an '02 and they both have the same problem with the dash illumination.
I use the 'FEEL' sollution ;
When you start the car you can assume it is in PARK.
the next spot down with the shifter is REVERSE.

Next is going to be NEUTRAL.

And then DRIVE.

So, from PARK , 3 possitions down on the shifter is going to give you DRIVE.

The alternative is to replace the instriment cluster on you car.

Column shifter would not shift. Brake lights aren't working due to blown fuse. When trying to replace the fuse the fuse gets real hot and melts.

you have a short circuit in the brake light circuit or the shift interlock circuit.

Look under the dash at the switch on the brake pedal arm and see if it is burned looking or the wiring is frayed and shorting out.

For emergency, there is an over ride for the shift interlock so you can get car to a shop. Look up shift interlock in index of owner manual for over ride procedure.

I think you turn key to OFF position, step on brake, and pull shifter into neutral. Start car in Neutral, put in gear, drive away.

Remember, you have no bake lights.

Also, check brake light bulbs and sockets in tail lights. A bulb or socket could be shorted.

please rate, thanks

I have a 2001 Dodge Intrepid, sometimes the dash lights come on and electrical accesories wont work.

Electrical short in the dashboard. The most likely cause is a melted or damaged hot wire. I had a honda catch on fire for the same thing. As a mechanic I suggest you take it in to someone with automotive electrical experience.

Sounds more like you have a grounding problem. Check all the ground wires from body to the chassis and the large one that goes from the battery to the engine. Look for faulty cables or bad or rusty connections. You can even add a couple of new ground wires to make sure that is not the problem.
