The shutdown relay does that. Check cooling system and
oil pressure sensor. engine gets too hot or not lubricated enough that the ECM tells the shutdown relay to shutdown the engine.

Charlie. You have replaced the ECM on your van?.
Kedwin,, Your problem is, the computer on that 3.3 L.
Need to be programed with the VIN nember of your car.
The Antitheft System will disable the injectors due a incorrect VIN, Bucause the body computer is not recieve the correct pasword between 5 seconds after start up.
YOU have 2 options. 1 get a ALOHA Smith. some of they have the computer required to program ECMs.

The other option is: Get a new ECM from the dealer, They will program if ask for that.

NOTE:::::: Other way is . Put the body control module with the computer from the same car.

OK... I hope this work for yours.
If NOT letme know I can look for more information.
Thank you.

SOURCE: 2004 Dodge sx 2.0 runs great but check engine light is on.?

I take it the light stays on? You might want to check your air filter, might be stuffed. You can reset the Check engine light by disconnecting the battery while the ignition is in the 'on' position, either negative or positive( I generally go with the positive, feel better about it for some reason) leave disconnected for about a minute, during this time I turn the ignition to 'off'. Reconnect the battery, if the light comes back on, you might want to get it scanned with an OBD and see what error codes it gives you, could be an O2 sensor or anything.

I had an intermittent starting problem and then a no start situation in a 1991 with the same engine. Changed the pickup inside the distributor. Less than $30.00.

If the engine was ran that much after overheating, you probably warped the head.

The crank sensor may also have been damaged by heat and need to be replaced. Check the spark plugs as well for cracked insulators or worn (read melted) tips.

Originl crankshaft senser positioned at rear of engine ,new engine has senser at front with differrent connection and different wiring setup

This setup may not work for the ECM in the coar. The old engines senosr ran off the crankshaft lobe, it has 4 to 6 slots cut in it to activate the sensor. The new sensor runs off about 20 slots. Way different reference signal. If they both have the same amount of wires you can cut into them and wire them together to see if it will work, But I doubt it. Good luck.

My 2005 Silverado 4.3 starts and runs good. The check engine light stays on. It will continue to run good as long as I do not shut it off. When I shut it off for a few minutes and then restart it it...

If no evidence of anything wrong with the codes your being told to check. It might be your ECM is bad, I had a friend had similar problems and they put a new ECM in it and it ran great again.

Van runs fine for 3 to 5 miles after startup then dies

Code 42 is the (asd) automatic shutdown driver, there is an open or a short in the relay circuit, and I don't have my manual to tell you where to look, have it checked.
Code 11 is no distributor signal during engine cranking.
Code 12 is battery power to computor disconnected in last 50 to a 100 cycles; memory standby power lost.
Code 55 is end of code output. These are what my code manual is showing. That shutdown driver should be checked. Hope this helps.

Check the crankshaft position sensor. If the plug is loose or the sensor itself is bad it will cause similar problems
