1992 4x4 toyota does not idle.

I have a 1992 toyota 4x4 with the 22r-e engine. in the past months my truck started to form a rough idle,but now it will not idle at all. when i start my truck it runs fine cold has all power, but when it warms up its starts to idle rough and shuts off. also when i drive it it has no power unless i fully accellerate it. I did a full tune up , plugs, wires , distributer, rotor, pvc valve, and fuel pump and still will not run . does anyone have a solution?

    Thanks for the advice I will check the throttle body, but the check engine light has never came on. the sensor would that be the mass air flow , O2, or the EGR?

    yes that is excatly what it does. Do you know what is wrong? it will run fine for about 30 to 40 seconds and then rough idle till it kills it self. but if i hold the gas pedal all the way it will run.

    k. I unplugged the Oxygen sensor and it runs fine. After i looked at the sensor i noticed burn marks on the wire, so i unwrapped the tape and noticed the wires welded themselves together. thanks for the advice this has been troubling me for about 3 months . Next week I am installing a whole new exhuast system and will,let you guys know how it turned out.

After it dies, then you restart, does it run fine for about 30 sec, and then go to ****?

    Try driving it with the oxygen sensor unplugged, then post back with the result.

Your throttle body may be bad, is your check engine light on, if so the sensor for the air and fuel mixture can also be bad, you can take it to a garage and have a computer put on is if the check engine light is on.

Toyota pickup 1990 22r engine runs on sometimes when engine is turned off , temp normal

If this is a carby engine then there is a solenoid at the base of the carby that shuts off the idle circuit when the ignition is turned of. Check for gunk of faulty needle on that solenoid as run on means that there is still fuel /air mixture getting past the carby throttle plate.
and being ignited by hot spots in the combustion chamber.

1985 toyota pickup.22r,automatic trans,2 barrel carb,ca smog. rough idle until engine hits thermostat.passes smog.all vacume lines fine,and zip tied.

There ar two thermo vacuum switches on the intake manifold,one in the center top by the EGR pipe right next to the valve cover,and one center bottom on the outside right below the carburator,it may be that one of them is not fully opening/closing when the motor is cold.I'm not sure on this as I've never had this problem with my 22R's,hopefully this will point you in the right direction,if you want comment back and I'll research this further(it's 5 in the morn and I cant access my 22r manual)

Toyota 22r runs rough. seems to be a miss. its a 87 2wd carb'd 22r. idles like it has a cam in it but sometimes clean's up to not be so bad. You can feel it stumble while driving also. almost feels like...

Find the EGR valve and underneath the valve there are holes, with the engine running try to open the valve by using a scredriver, the engine should die. do it a few times to clean the valve.

1986 Toyota 4X4 22r Engine

Hello;
It sounds as if you have a couple of possible problems. First could be the fuel pump. If yoou disconnect the fuel line, put the line in a jar and crank the engine over, you should get a pint in 15 seconds or so. Also check the pressure, should have around 5 psi. Secondly, you may have a vacuum hose cracked, broken, or leaking. Check your hoses and also the carbureator for leaks.
Hope this helps;
Thanks;
