Your truck should have a spring tensioner pulley that keeps the belt tight. on my 96 with the 5.7liter 350 the spring broke inside the tensioner and needed to be replaced.
hope this helps!

the spring could be loaded improperly or you may not have the belt routed the right way

glad you got it remedied :)

I have a 99 chevy lumina it started squealing where the belt is everytime I touch the gas it gets louder it has a 3.1 6 cylinder

Either it needs a new belt or the automatic belt tensioner is going out. Could even be a pulley that's frozen

How to move tensioner on 1991 chevy corsica

The tensioner is the smooth pulley(back side of the belt,no grooves)
Think it's a 15mm bolt, just "tighten the bolt" and the spring loaded tensioner will move The pulley is steel on the 4 cyl, plastic on the V-6 The tensioner bolt is left hand thread so it won't unscrew when you realese the tension.

Where's the location of the time distributor in a 1991 chevy pickup z71 350?

Not sure as to what you are needing by the way you worded your question. Are you looking for the timing indicator so you are able to time it on the crankshaft mark ? Some models in that year the marks are above or monted on the oil pan (see pictures below) I hope this is what you were needing. If not you can comment here or email me directly at with more detail as to what you are needing.

How do i release the tension belt ... cant seem to find bolt being referred to in other docs

Here's the procedure on how to release and replace the tension belt of your car.

Step 1
  • Open the hood on the Volvo S-60 and find the serpentine-belt routing diagram. The diagram should be attached to the top of the fan shroud that covers the radiator. If not, draw out the exact routing method of the serpentine belt around each pulley with a pen and a piece of paper.
  • Step 2 Locate the serpentine-belt tensioner that is in the very center of the engine. The tensioner will have a square bolt head in the center of the tensioner pulley.
  • Step 3 Slide the open end of the 5/8-wrench onto the square bolt head in the center of the belt-tensioner pulley. Turn the tensioner pulley counterclockwise and slide the serpentine belt off of the tensioner pulley.
  • Step 4 Remove the serpentine belt from the other pulleys and pull the belt out of the engine compartment.
  • Step 5 Slide the new serpentine belt into the engine compartment and around the crankshaft pulley.
  • Step 6 Route the new serpentine belt around each pulley. Turn the belt-tensioner pulley counterclockwise again and slide the serpentine belt around the tensioner pulley. Release the tensioner and it will tighten the belt around the pulleys. Look over the belt to ensure that it is inside of each pulley.
  • Step 7 Crank the S-60 and look over the serpentine belt with the motor running. Let the engine run for about one minute and shut the engine off. Close the hood.

    I need a serpentine drive belt routing diagram for a 1999 chevy K2500 4x4 pickup with a 350 engine

Serpentine belts are easy to change. The key is knowing where the 1/2" square drive tensioner is and to remove tension to the belt at this point.

If you remove the belt, it's easy to put the new one on because the pulleys are designed with grooves for the groove side of the belt, and smooth pulleys for the smooth back of the belt to ride on the pulleys.

Just go over, under, over, under until the belt is threaded on, except for the last idler pulley which is smooth.

Use the 1/2" breaker bar to turn the pulley until one can slip the belt onto the last 'idler' pulley and you're done.

Replace belt on Chevy S10 pickup

Put a 15mm wrench on the tensionor pulley center bolt, release tension and hold, remove belt. Tensionor is spring loaded and should move freely with a fairly good amount of tension so be carefull not to pinch fingers and make sure to use the boxed end of the wrench, keep it squarely and fully seated on the bolt at all times.

Does the tensioner tightin belt atomatically

Yes, the belt tension should adjust automatically using the strong spring in the tensioner (you can't see the spring) that keeps pressure applied to the belt.
