Question about 1981 Ford F 100

1 Answer

Front brakes gradually lock up.

Howdy, this question is similar to one posted previously, although my problem seems related to the break booster. I have 3 break boosters, 2 of which when installed work excellently until the front breaks gradually lock after a 3-5 k distance. The 3rd booster does not cause the breaks to lock, although the pedal is extremely light, and 100% breaking power is not available for emergency breaking etc (somewhere in the range of about 85%). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

It is possible that the calipers are binding when hot. It could also be the brake hoses. If the hoses are collapsing internally it will cause the brakes to drag

Brakes r hard to press, seems like brake booster needs replacing. is it any tricks 2 changing da brake booster?

Quite a few variables here. Always is some trouble, disconnecting the brake pedal inside under the firewall, then removal of the brake resevoir, then the booster. Before you go into all that labor, did it happen gradually, then it can be a booster. If it occured suddenly, trace all the vacuum sources to the booster. It can be something as simple as a broken/open vacuum leak.

2002 tahoe breaks lock up during driving

i would check front and rear brakes if rears are drum brakes i would inspect springs and hardware making sure everthing is conected and in place also make sure they are adjusted properly in the front and if rear disc i would make sure to grease caliper slides these allow caliper to move and its important that all moving brake parts are free push caliper pistons in alittle to see if they are sized or not booster is ok and most of the time when master goes it will leak where it meets booster and you will have a low brake pedal or no brakes
