No I don't have a owners manual, and I am a woman and not to car suavy...LOL. I had a heater core put in about a month ago and this week my lighter and rear hatch won't work . My wiper has been out for a while on the back glass but I really need to open this.

No the key won't open it either, when I push the button to release the hatch it doesn't even click. From inside now the handle to release the gate will open but the glass won't release to allow it to open.

At this point it sounds like a mechanical problem with the lock. It may need lubrication as Motor 1258 says, but you may have to take it somewhere to someone familiar with the mechanism.

I am leaning towards a fuse as well, however on my Suburban with barn doors at the back it has spring loaded contacts and periodically I have to clean the contact areas with a pencil eraser to reestablish a good connection for the contacts to keep the door locks, etc working. I am not sure how the hatches are wired. (either hard wired or contacts). If it has contacts you should see small brass looking rods about as round as a pencil sticking out from somewhere on the frame. It its hard wired you should see some sort of wire harness between the door and the vehicle.

I take it the key won't work to open it on that either? As far as being a women, and not to Savvy on this subject, don't feel bad, first of all, that's why we're here, second of all, that can apply to a lot of men I know too. (LOL)

We had the same problem! We opened up the tail gate to find a simple solution! There is a little plastic piece in there that is turned by a metal rod when you push the hatch release button! He found the little part at a scrap yard for extremely cheap!! Fixed it in a second and works great now!! good luck!!!

Have you taken the little red nozzle that comes with WD-40 and stuck it as far in the key slots as far as you can & soak it good? Spray all around buttons too, trying to get it to work in behind it.

Back hatch won~t open with remote or inside door locks will open manually nothing stuck or jammed?

Found this wiring diagram for lift gate, if that is what we're talking about? Not only check the fuses, check fuse circuit for voltage. Use a testlite.

My power door locks and rear hatch on my 2000 GMC Safari will not work. Everything else is still working. Any idea of what may be wrong?

There are two fuses associated with the door locks system. The first is the Cigarette Lighter Fuse (Fuse 13 - 20A). This fuse provides power to the switches to activate the lock/motor relays. The second fuse is the PWR ACCY Circuit Breaker (30A). This provides the power thru the relay contacts to the lock solenoids/door motor. Both of the are in the Instrument Panel (IP) Fuse block.

Ford Edge Rear Hatch Pistons

The only way you can do it with new pistons is to install shorter pistons. These will probably not be designed for the weight or leverage requirements of the rear hatch. I suggest installing a small-link chain on each piston from one end to the other to restrain them from full extension. (Stitch a tight cloth sleeve around the chain to keep it from banging and scratching on things when the hatch is closed.) Make one end easily removable (a hook or dog-leash snap) so you can open the hatch all the way elsewhere. A bungee cord or rope installed elsewhere may do the same thing, but may get in your way sometimes. I suspect this solution will be considerably cheaper than new pistons as well as more likely to work.

Automatic side door will no longer open with remote or console button in car. Also, both side door's locks will not pop up using all of our 3 remotes (1 door is automatic, 1 is manual). Lastly, the back...

Did these doors quit at the same time or over a period. It seems that the actuators for the locks have gone bad. With the mentioned doors, that's a lot weight for the actuators to unlock and pop open. With the remotes and console not working , that's more reason to think the actuators are the problem.

2003 Nissan Murano hatch back door won't unlock or open. Glitchy for a long time, always opened eventually with a ritual of locking/unlocking using the remote/lock on the door, etc. Upon opening,...

I have a 2004 Murano. I opened the small hatch and with a screw driver and someone on the outside managed to open the hatch. The problem appears to be bent pieces inside. After straightening them out and using a good silicon spray, mine works again. It should be lubricated quite frequently.
