Question about 1995 Ford F150 Styleside Regular Cab

1 Answer

Bummer starter prob.....

OK! Here it goes.... If there is a sense of frustration.... excuse me.... It is a long story but I need to resolve this problem now.....

1995 Ford F 150 4x4 supercab. less than 5000 miles on motor rebuild. less than 3K on 5 spd manual tranny rebuild. differential rebuilds less than 3K on them (starting to see the length of this story... LOL) anyway, it has been running well! Starts in a New York minute.... today I drove from one office to the other, parked, went inside for an hour, came back out and all I get is a selenoid clicking. New battery. Cleaned terminals just in case. alarm works and was disengaged. Neutral safety switch appears to be working. Lights, radio etc....

Does anyone else out there think it is acting like the starter? I just need some feedback cuz I am getting frustrated with problems, and not sure I trust my judgement.... since a 5lb shop hammer is starting to look like the best tool I can take to this truck.......

thanks
Mike

Well the hammer is a good idea... but not to trash it. have someone attempt to start it while someone else uses the hammer to tap the starter... if it starts... replace the starter... i presume the battery light isn't on ?

How do I mount the harness to the starter?

I assume you have a later model that has the solenoid on the starter. If not, please get back to me.

1. Make sure the negative battery cable is removed from the battery.

2. Big black wire goes to big terminal nearest the starter that also has a short cable going into the starter.

3. Smaller wire (from ignition switch) goes on smaller terminal in the middle.

4. Big red wire goes to big terminal farthest from the starter motor.

If this doesn't make sense, please get back to me.
