Question about 2002 Ford F250 Super Duty SuperCab

I have an f250 diesel 7.3. while i'm driving the motor will just cut off.but it will start right back up.sometimes the check engine light will come on.but when I restart it ,it will go off.It usually happens when I'm stopped or I make a turn

Diesel. Reduce power lite turned on. Shut off engine and started back up - lite is off. Can it be driven?


Jerry, Drive to a good shop. So many things can cause reduced power light unfortunately. The first step would be to get the truck hooked up to a scanner/computer and have the computer scanned for trouble codes. One thing that you could try is to drain the water from the water separator that is mounted on the frame under drivers front door. If the PCM picks up on water, power is reduced until water is removed/drained. It could be an exhaust sensor that is reading faulty. Unfortunately from here its impossible to tell you exactly what the fault is because there are just so many engine sensor inputs that could cause your problem. We think it is the diesel injection pump but not sure


Sounds like not all the glow plugs are working.It should run fairly smooth on a cold start if all of the glow plugs are working..Also you shouldn't drive off on a cold start with a diesel,Its really hard on the motors..At least give them 10 to 15 min on a cold start..The oil in them is a really thick oil and when there drove on a cold start theres no oil lubricating the internal parts and will cause the motor to seize up..You may already no this and dont mean you drive it as soon as you start it i just wanted to let you know..When you get alot of white smoke it could be two things,Theres water in the fuel which will make it not have much power die and smoke..But if it runs fine when its warm theres some bad glow plugs...Hope this helps you and have a great day

Ford F250 turbo diesel cut out and died as left house this morning, cold morning. Will not start, not even a cough. Have new fuel filters, need location of the filters, anything else I should check?


if you have the 6.0 then the filters are located on top on the motor right beside your oil filter and under the drivers side on the fuel pump, check to see if you have diesel in your bowl where the fuel filter is, no diesel in there your fuel pump might be dead, check fuses to fuel pump and check relay on the passengers side kicker panel, check your owners manual

check your vacuum storage unit or vaccum pump supply, remember diesel motors dont make vacuum like internal combustion gas powered engines do.. they have an auxilary vacuum motor and resovior to store vacuum to eliminate a lag time in vacuum supply...please rate my help..thanks...

Your vehicle may be involved in recall 07S57 for camshaft postion sensor replacement. It will cause these symptoms you described.

Engine dying


it sounds like the cam sensor (also called "crank sensor") needs to be replaced. Mine has gone out twice &i t's common. In fact, Ford has a recall on this item. To do it yourself, it costs about $30 at a parts store & takes about 15 minutes to replace. Very easy!

1994 powerstroke diesel wont start


no wait to start light is a good indication that you need to check you glowplug relay and harness. Make sure you have 12V in and out of the relay. Also if you can check to see if you have good continuity to ground through your glow plugs. This is kind of hard to do on this engine, sometimes it is OK just to check the AMP draw for the leff and right group of wires. Do this by putting an AMP clamp around all 4 wires to the left and right bank. Wait about 45 sec. for the relay to click off (if it clicked on) and then record the amps right before the relay turns off. Let me know what the amp draw is and I can check it against the spec sheet. Se you amp clamp above 100 amps, it might start around 60A and end up around 36A if I remember correctly.
