I have a 1998 Ford Fiesta 1.3L Encore and ever time i press the clutch down, the engine revs just build and build as though i am pressing the accelerator. Also, when coming to a stop at a junction, by putting it into neutral, the same thing is happening.
my car sometimes overrevs when the clutch is pressed and the only way 2 sort it is to put it in neutral, wait a few seconds and suddenly the revs drop rapidly; they then get so low that the car usually stalls unless i give it some throttle. this is an infrequent problem tho - the main problem with my escort is when the engine is cold, it stalls every time i press the clutch in - sometimes i can save it by bumping it, although if this happens at traffic lights, roundabouts etc, I'm stationary by the time it stalls so I have to restart the engine which is most embarrassing as it makes me look like I don't know how to drive without stalling - I've had loads of cars and quite a few escorts but never had this problem before.
Hi, Im haveing the same problem with my ford encore r reg 1.3 model its over revving when im pressing the clutch down so would this be the idle speed control valve on mine aswell? I did take it down to the garage but they could not diagnoise it because it was'nt doing it at that point but dont want to pay out for a new clutch if its not required.

Is it possible the clutch pedal is interfering with the throttle? Start the engine in neutral and allow it to idle. Press only the clutch pedal down and see if this increase the engine speed. If it does speed up the engine and slows back down when you release the clutch then somehow this operation is where your fault lies. If it doesn't alter the idle speed, then rev your engine and release the throttle to see if it returns to idle immediately. If it is slow to return to idle then your throttle cable could be sticking. This means when you change gear lifting off the throttle has little effect and depressing the clutch to change gear causes the engine to race as the throttle is still partially open.
If I am hearing you right, the engine revs ONLY when the clutch is depressed?
I would have to doubt that is what is really happening, tho. Is it possible that the engine is revving from the time that you start it, until the time that you shut it off?
This would be more likely, as depressing the clutch doesn't really have any effect on the engine, other than dis-engaging the drive-line...
IF it is revving at start up, see if it isn't only 'idling down' when the weight of the vehicle puts a load on the motor. In other words, does it idle down, or does it only SEEM like it is, because now it's pulling the car? Do you have to give it gas to go on a flat surface? If not, then it's still revving.
Then, if you decide that it's revving ALL the time, you will need to check it for vacuum-leaks or mis-adjusted linkages, or carburetor (throttle body, if it is injected).
Do yourself a favor and buy a Chilton or Haynes manual for your vehicle (at most any auto parts store), if you plan to keep it for a while. They will generally have troubleshooting sections, to help you eliminate variables until you find the actual issue. It's the best $20 you can spend!
I think you will find the clutch plate needs replacing. Your symptoms sound like a slipping clutch. You will need to take it to a mechanic, this is not a job for a handy man.
you need to check the clutch cable is not binding with gas pedal cable. you need to have some body to help you to look the operation at engine area. let me know if this help you
