There is usually one right at fitting going into carburetor, and or one, in-line that you should be able to see when standing in front of vehicle looking down at engine. Have a look here at what I'm describing.

It is located on the inside of the frame rail on the drivers side, just behind the cab under the bed.

iit is an inline filter, it is on the frame in my 93 dakota, assumed it would be the same on your 88, follow the supply line it is not at the fuel tank.

Where is the fuel filter location on a 1988 Dodge Dakota?

Locate the gas tank under the bed of the truck (drivers side) and follow the line. You'll see the fuel filter just a little way up from the tank. Mine says "fuel filter" right on it:) If yours doesn't have it printed on there, it'll be a cylindrical part about 3 1/2 to 4 inches long.

1998 dodge dakota, 5.2 v8. where is the fuel filter located?

Hello oldfarmer877: My name is Roger and I will be glad to help you. Your truck does not have a fuel filter like the older cars and trucks have. The fuel filter for your truck is part of the fuel module inside the fuel tank. To replace the filter would involve removal of the fuel tank. The actual filter is located inside of the fuel pressure regulator. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

Recently bought '96 olds delta 88, slow starting after 1 week of driving, previous owenr replaced fuel filter, where is the location of the fuel filter?

Along the frame rail under the car you should see the fuel lines on the driver side. Along the line around the front driver door area there should be a metal barrel, this is the fuel filter.
