Hi

Get a jump start, with good set of leads.

If no joy , follow the Positive lead from the battery to the starter motor, and give it a tap with a small hammer or big spanner, while someone turns the ignition key.

Good Luck !

Remember to give me a FixYa rating....Thanks...John.

1989 ford escort turns over but wont start

if all you did was this...and and put a new battery in and still wont start...if you have went thru your plugs..wires..distributor..ignition coil...made sure your getting spark..if not..check your relays and fuses..preferebly one that deals with spark and timing for injectors..if everything is fine to that point...then try a crankshaft position sensor...it tells the pcm timing for fuel injectors and fire to the ignition coil...hopefully this helps.

2000 ford escort zx2 wont start

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

Ok i have a ford escort zx2 auto dual over head cam and i have a fully charged battery a new alternator.. ok at 1:15 am i started my car moved it and parked again and turned it off then at 3:30 am i came...

You are somewhat correct...the extreme cold 15 degrees is very challenging to your starting system...How did you check the battery? The post connections are very critical...both connections need to be clean...(no corrosion) and tight...try wiggling both and see if either is loose...A battery can be losing a cell and start OK for a while...was the motor turning over slower when starting before the problem? You can get a free battery test at you local auto parts store...As the battery does test fully charged and connections are good...your EXP also has a relay switch mounted on the fender near the battery...check these connections for torque also...In rare cases the starter can cause the battery to run down as the starter begins to fade and short out...This is a nice car!! Hope this helps.

2000 ford escort want start. starter turns over battery is charged fluids are full ,tried to jump start tried the fuses. made sure all wires are conneced. what now

Go back to the basics. Fuel, air, spark and timing. First off the battery has to be above 12 volts to diagnos properly. If the engine cranks over fast and stays cranking, then the battery should be ok for testing. Need to check for fuel pressure at the injector rail, normally 35 to 50 psi. If no fuel pressure, suspect fuel problem, filter , pump, electrical. Check for plugged air filter or restriction in air intake system. Also recommend a compression test , will tell you condition of the piston rings, valve seats and seal and timing of the camshaft. Last is to check for spark at the spark plug to determine an ignition problem. Once you have narrowed down the problem, it will be easier to fix.
