Check firing order. the wires may be placed wrong, or your coilpack could be shot.

I have a 1997 chevy malibu 2.4 twin cam an the engine light was on so i had it checked an they said it was a misfire on cylinder one what could cause this issue

who they ? they did not tell you why ? could be spark plug wires, do a tune up, include new air & fuel filters, spark plugs, etc., you need # 1 spark plug to fire in order to start engine. winter time brings out all the problems, get a repair manual from a parts store, it will help you like, like having your own mechanic, just do it !

My 1997 Chevy Malibu is getting a misfire code. Any solutions to my problem will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

a miss fire is usually caused by a bad spark plug, wires, or coil not producing enough voltage.

2003 chevy malibu wont start

If you have spark, and fuel , and still no start, I'd first pull out the spark plugs and make sure they are not fuel fouled. Dry or replace as necessary. Do you have compression ?

1997 Chevy Malibu will start and then sputter.

It sounds like your engine is not getting a proper spark because of bad plugs. Check your spark plugs. To be safe install new ones anyway. I prefer NGK plugs.
