Question about 1998 Jeep Cherokee
As I got up to 70 plus KM or more a loud klicking noise from the instrument cluster would appear - it sounded like the old unlubricated cables on very old vehicles.... click, click, click over and over again and it got more rapid as the vehicle increased speed. So to fix the problem I got a 2nd hand cluster from a dealer in Alabama for $125 - I put it in and all work so well... no noise. One thing is not write - on the upper left corner of the cluster you have on the old one washer fluid light, security, then cruise.... on the 2nd one you have security, wahser fluid then cruise (in a nut shell only washer fluid light and security light indicators are positioned in the reverse order) as such the fluid light stays on all the time - washer tub is full and the old one when replaced back in the jeep does not light up the fluid light. What can I do? can I reverse wires to the back of the cluster to fix this problem... that is if I can find out which one is which.....
You can either find the correct cluster, drive yourself crazy re-wiring, or use the 'ole roll of black electrical tape and cover the lights so they don't annoy you. Just make sure that the important stuff (engine warning etc) is working.
