Having the same problem. Whzzing type of noise typical of a low fluid noise in a pump. Tramsmission shifts fine with no slippage. Noise starts up as soon as I start the engine. Changes pitch with engine speed. Sounds like it is comming from transmission area. Anyone got a clue on what to look for.

Did you buy this car new? Do you have any children that drive this car? Sounds like someone may have "unrestricted" that air intake plumbing to achieve that Varoooom sound when one depresses the accelerator.

You need to pin down where the noise is coming from. It sounds like a pump, but cant be sure.

The belt is not going to make any noises if its in good shape. What the belt is connected to is. Check your power stearing pump, open the power stearing pump fill hole and see if the fluid is being moved. Also check your power booster, this is a vacume part that can get dirty.

Is the sound under the hood? If so, check the serpentine belt. You could take the belt off and check accessary pulleys, make sure nothing is trying to freeze up? How long since you replaced the belt?
There could be other issues.

Tapping from upper left area under hood

Replace the egr, or if you want to be sure, have a friend give it gas ( unless you are familiar with the throttle body) while you listen under the hood. You should be looking between the firewall an engine. Once you locate it, you will know if your tapping is coming from the egr. Could be that something is touching a fan, or even the cv joint (would get worse during turns). Best bet, get under the hood and check it out. If the egr code is coming up, it needs to be replaced.

When i hit the gas pedal, my car makes a clicking sound and when i drive it gets so loud. what could that be?? please help!

Where is this clicking sound coming from? Is it coming from under the hood? If so, check to see if the shroud covering the cooling fan has cracked and maybe it is hitting the blades. Be careful though, don't go sticking your fingers in the shroud and don't try to repair it while the engine is running. I'm just taking a wild guess here given the lack of data in your post. Try to give more information regarding the problem. Where is it coming from? Does it sound like metal or plastic? Is it a bright sound or muffled? Does it get louder with the hood open? Does it occur when parked and when driving? I'll monitor this post for your reply to this and try to diagnose your problem as soon as I get more information.

I don't know a whole lot about cars when it comes to looking under the hood (except for how to check oil, etc. :-) (I obviously plan on taking the car to a shop to be repaired, but would just like to get a...

Your car can start if the alternator is making noise. It could be the bearings going out in the alternator, It could be the tension pulley for your belt. It could be a valve rattling but the sound could make you think it's coming from a different place. Sounds under a hood may sound like it's here, but it could be coming from there. Good Luck.

2007 dodge ram hemi whining noise from under hood

Inspect the belts for any carbon build up (It will look like specs of glassy residue), cracking, or for proper tension. If it tends to go away at a certain rpm or after a bit of driving I'd say it's definitly a belt.

You could try to figure out what belt it is by sitting in your driveway and idling while you turn the wheels (Powersteering belt) or turn on the A/C (A/C belt). Do you notice any lose of power? This could point to the main belt that winds its way around most of the engine.

Hope this helps!
