2002 Chevy Cavalier- Makes a moaning sound when I start it up.

And it continues to make the sound while driving...actually it gets louder when I hit the gas. I looked under the hood, not sure where its coming from its just so annoying!

Oh yeah I just got my serpentine belt replaced a month ago...would that be the reason??

Having the same problem. Whzzing type of noise typical of a low fluid noise in a pump. Tramsmission shifts fine with no slippage. Noise starts up as soon as I start the engine. Changes pitch with engine speed. Sounds like it is comming from transmission area. Anyone got a clue on what to look for.

Did you buy this car new? Do you have any children that drive this car? Sounds like someone may have "unrestricted" that air intake plumbing to achieve that Varoooom sound when one depresses the accelerator.

You need to pin down where the noise is coming from. It sounds like a pump, but cant be sure.

The belt is not going to make any noises if its in good shape. What the belt is connected to is. Check your power stearing pump, open the power stearing pump fill hole and see if the fluid is being moved. Also check your power booster, this is a vacume part that can get dirty.

My 93 chevy cavalier sounds like metal is hitting when i start it it and when im driving

Knocking sound. Rod bearings. More of a rattle sound, check the heat shields on the exhaust system.

When im driving the car moans and moans even louder when i turn the wheel, the faster i drive the louder the sound gets

You should check the power steering fluid level first. However, you said the noise gets louder if you turn the wheel. That sounds like a front hub bearing. To check the front and rear hubs, raise the tires off the ground one at a time. Try to move the tire in & out at the top, sides and bottom. spin the tire if you can. Only a tiny amount of play, if any, is acceptable. If you hear or feel rumbling or roughness when turning the tire, the hub is bad and must be replaced

Grumbling noise in front drivers side of car.Worst at 30-40 mph.

Sound more like the wheel/hub bearing. An axle will usually make a clicking noise when turning, and be quiet when going straight. It probably wont break by may but it may get louder. Get it checked asap.

The car makes a howling noise while driving it

well did the noise start after the tires were rotated?could be choppy tires,,,if not ,i strongly think it sounds like a bad wheel bearing,,,,if you drive and while its making the noise turn left and right quick and see if the noise gets louder and which way turning makes it louder,,if you turn leftand it gets louder its usually the right wheels bearing as you are putting load on it, if it makes the noise louder while turning right its the left wheel bearing,,,got it

Loud engine whine (like a jet noise) from 2002 subaru forester

Have you crawled under the vehicle and personally inspected your exhaust line from manifold to tail pipe? The roaring sound usually occur when there is a hole in the exhaust line. I had it happen to my forester before. A hole half the size of a dime made my subaru sound like my old 74 chevy pickup.

1998 Chevy Cavalier (Front end sound)

If I were you I would not use the car. It could be a bad wheel bearing or a steering tierod end thats about to go. Find out what the peoblem is first before driving. It could be several things. But a "thumping" noise sounds serious.
