Yes you can get them from motorcraft now.

How to remove the left cv axel from the the housing case of a 2005 ford escape split ring is keeping it from being removed

Enough force applied will pop it out. But you can't grab hold and yank-you might pull apart the cv joint. Shops can use a slide hammer with an attached fork that slips around the cv joint housing. Another method is using a large screwdriver or pry bar between the axle housing and the cv joint housing. Slip it between them and place tip of bar against the cv housing. Now give it a good stiff push with your hand to pop out the joint and axle. Be careful of the aluminum axle case and the axle seal-don't break or damage anything. Just remember: enough force applied will pop out the circlip from its groove inside the axle case.

When I make a left turn there is a noise coming from the front drivers side wheel, someone told me it was the boot, where is it

Hello rkayet,

They may have been referring to the CV axle boot. When the CV axle boot gets damaged dirt and water get into the CV joint and wear the internal parts, this typically causes a clicking noise when turning.

Unless you have the tools to rebuild the CV axle it's best to buy a rebuilt CV axle (sometimes called a half shaft) from your local auto parts store.

Regards,
netvan

CV joint noise

this sounds like a normal condition. sorry i cant give a real great technical explanation why, but it is. are you jacking up one side of the vehicle only? you will find that if both wheels are off the ground or if one is still on the ground, it will act completely different. just the way the final drive is set up.

How to fix a drive axle assblemy

tommyscott: you are wanting to know how to fix a drive axle assembly? These parts have become so cheap to buy remanufactured, that it is not economical to rebuild them your self any more. I don't know of any shops that actually rebuild drive axles any more. I may occasionally replace a boot if one has been recently torn, but if the car has been driven for a while to where the CV joint has been exposed to road grit and foreign matter, I replace the whole axle, it's cheaper!
