If drive-by-wire, then problem with sending and/or recieving unit for throttle.

If conventional, you probably have a broken throttle cable or throttle control rod.

2002 Jetta,20v Turbo, idles rough and will do nothing when you give it gas. needs to be jumped to start and stays runnig with out cables. will move at idle speed only. EPC light is on, engine light stays...

I did some research on this and found a history of throttle position sensor issues.OBD codes are p0221, p2123, and p2128. All related to throttle position sensor. Need to call VW dealer and inquire of any recalls before you spend any money on this. One guy said dealer gave him a $10,000.00 estimate to repair and it may not fix it..... Sounds like some BS to me. You could **** near buy a new Jetta for that. LOL. Hope I've been some help. Try to get OBD codes if possible and then add information and we will see what we can come up with.

I have a 2002 VW Jetta and the temperature gauge keeps going up and down... Is this something to worry about ?

Replace the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. ECT sensor is placed in the right back side of the cylinder head on 2002 VW Jetta 1.9 TDI. See picture below:

My vw polo keeps cutting out. when it slows down

try cleaning your battery terminals and tightening them. if that doesnt solve the problem your battery or alternator may be dying, some auto parts stores will do a charging system check for free that will tell you if one or the other is bad.
