If you haven't already solved this issue you might do me afavor and i should be able to help you. i need to know what engine you have? also need to know what plugs you bought? i need the part#'s and model of the plugs? example: autolite double platinum rs3564. this was just example for the info i need. you might have the wrong plugs very easy to do just cause they fit they wont work will not fire properly. you will also need to start one at a time by pulling the plugs out, look at the ends of the plugs. you say it has ran rough with the new plugs in there, so your looking for one or more plugs that have a white or clean tip that is a dead plug. they should be blackend with fuel that is unburned. if you want go through and put old plugs back in if you still have and see if problem goes away if it does then return all the plugs and get all new ones. 1 out of every 5 spark plugs on the market are usually out of spec some are really bad. while your pulling the wires off look at the boot ends and make sure no breaks or corrosion, you might also go through and check the resistence in the wires they all should be within 2-3k of each other doubt that is problem though. im assuming car was running all right before tune-up ?????? let me know and ill help you out i can walk you through it then you'll be a pro. lol

running rough? Were the plug wires serviced recently...get the firing order from your parts store, then trace each wire from spark box to cylinder...Least costly attempt...

What tools would I use to change spark plugs and wires?

you will need a 5/8 size spark plug socket, with a 3/8" ratchet, and a 4 - 6" extenstion to remove the plugs, and the wires can be pulled off at the spark plug boot, just twist the boot back and forth a little, and then pull them off, sometimes you will need a spark plug wire boot puller, this is very inexpensive, and can be purchased at a auto part store, replace only 1 spark plug and wire at a time, this way you wont get the wires mixed up. also it is recommendable since escorts have alluminum heads to replace the plugs when the engine is cold.

How do i know my spark plugs are firering in the

The best way would be to obtain a firing order diagram and go by that. You can probably look at the diagram somewhere online for nothing. Crossed wires are a pain to guess at.

How to change spark plugs on 1997 ford ranger

Changing the spark plugs is a pretty easy task. The spark plugs run along both sides of the engine (if its a V block) , 1 per cylinder. You can easily identify them by the plug wires running to them from the distributor. Pop off each plug wire, (1 at a time) and replace the spark plug. Once you have replaced the plug, replace the plug wire. This ensures that you dont mess up the sequence of the wires which determines which cylinder fires at what time in the cycle. VERY important not to mess up the sequence. If you should happen to get the wires mixed up, look online for the firing sequence for your vehicle and engine.
