I work for Ford. In our vehciles, we have an "***: sensor in the seat that senses the wieght in the passenger seat. If no one is there, air bag is deactivated. If a light wieght, slow deployment, If over 150 lbs, regular deployment.

You womer manual should tell you if you have this. Also, call your delaer service department, they answer these questions all the time. god luck/

2009 Chevy Impala LT code b001b What to do with this?

Code B001b is for Sensing Diagnostic Module (SDM) for Air bag.

Potential Causes:-
  • Drivers Seat Belt Anchor Pretensioner
  • Passengers Seat Belt Anchor Pretensioner
  • Sensing Diagnostic Module (SDM)
  • Sensing Diagnostic Module (SDM) Wiring
1. Confirm the passenger seat belt anchor pre tensioner connector position assurance is clicked into place.

2. If not, click it in and retest.

3. If the codes reset, disable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system.

4. Substitute a 2.0 to 2.2 ohm resistor for the passenger seat belt anchor pretensioner. Refer to Tech Tips for a load tool.

5. Retest for the code to reset.

6. If the code resets, check for harness problems between the seat belt anchor pretensioner and the Sensing Diagnostic Module (SDM).
Tech Tips: At the beginning of the 2009 model year, the Impala began being equipped with two pre tensioners for the driver and two pre tensioners for the front passenger. The first pretensioner is still attached to the seatbelt retractor. The second pretensioner is attached to the anchor point for the seat belt.
A load tool can be fashioned from an 1157 light bulb and socket. Turn the bulb into the socket. Using an ohmmeter, determine which 2 wires have 2 - 3 ohms of resistance. Use those 2 wires as the load tool.

How do I disable the passenger side airbag on a 2011 Chevy Impala?

Generally speaking, you don't. Only trucks give you the option of turning off the passenger side airbag in the event you are hauling a child car seat.
You could unplug the air bag, but then the entire system would be disabled.

Disable airbag airbagmodulhave a 2006 lincoln towncar, passenger seat has been removed, airbag light now stays on,how do i bypass the seat occupancy sensor

Its a weight sensitive sensor, so you would probably have to come up with some sort of resistor. I doubt you can bypass it.

Is there any way to disable the passenger side airbag (in the dashboard) in a 2009 impala? If so, does anyone know how? The owners manual does not seem to cover the topic, so I am guessing the answer is...

The Airbag is automatically disabled if the occupant is under 50 pounds in the passenger seat, there is an electronic scale in the seat, this is called a "SMART OR ADAPTIVE" Airbag system, so no need to worry about children in the seat be injured that are under 50 pounds. There is no safe way to disable the system without turning off all the Airbags in the SRS system. Please rate my help for Fixya, it is the only thing I ask for my 35 years of automotive expertise.

Disabling Airbags on Mazda 323f 1995

Well, for one you not suppose to put a baby seat in the front of the car. But anyways with an older airbag control system like that you cannot just disable one airbag, if you unplug the passenger side airbag then in an accident neither airbags will deploy.

Ford Focus 2006 model airbag deactivation

Children in car seats should never be put in the front seat.  In fact children under the age of 13 should never be in the front seat.  Their bodies are not large enough or strong enough to sustain the impact of a crash or an airbag.  For your baby's safety and your peace of mind it'd be best for you to keep your baby in the rear seat and get a mirror for the back seat to see what's going on.

Airbag light

This is either a problem with one or both of your airbags or the airbag connector located at the back of the glovebox has been disconnected for some reason. (ie. to prevent airbag opening when installing baby seat) (1999 miata does not have a baby seat airbag disabling sensor).

You should get your car inspected at your local mazda service to check if this is a wiring (plug disconnected) issue or one of your airbags is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.

Flashing airbag light could indicate that either one of the airbags or both have a problem. Disconnecting the passenger's airbag has the same effect.

Warning! Do NOT attempt to do any kind of airbag/airbag wiring related repair yourself. Airbag problems should be addressed ONLY by certified technicians at your local Mazda service. (Airbag fixing requires for example that the car battery is disconnected, you MUST NOT attempt anything with the car battery connected).

Hope this helps.
